5.0 out of 5 stars GOTTA HAVE IT
This is a goody. this is good for color learning and pretend food play. Under each ice cream scoop is the color in bold black lettering. The quality is amazing, the icecream looks so realistic. the scoops have a nice weight and texture to it and it fits snuggly on the cone. And you get 2 cones. Its also great for stacking.... very cool. My kids love it !

3.0 out of 5 stars Great Concept but Too Heavy and Difficult to attach
I love the concept of teaching colors and just the general play with the ice cream cones - but I was extremely surprised by how heavy each ice cream scoop was ... which makes it difficult to easily double scoop, etc. It's also very difficult for my children to attach themselves. Not a big hit for my children ... just ok.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great play ice cream, March 20, 2009

We needed some ice cream for the play food repertoire and looked at a number of different implementations -- wood a la Melissa and Doug, Fleece, cheesy plastic, and these sturdy yet mildly flexible rubber ones. Ultimately I left it up to my 3 year old daughter who sat and deliberated over them on the store floor ("I can only get one, right?).

Initially I leaned toward the wooden ice cream since I'm a fan of wood toys. But this was a good choice -- the ice cream looks realistic, has a pleasing texture, is nicely weighted, super durable (tossed all around), and richly colored (more so than the alternatives).

After the purchase we sat down in a pizza shop and took out the ice cream. Other small children there were standing on their seats vying for a look so we had a communal ice cream "tasting".

Note that the balls of ice cream are hollow -- like a shell -- so that they can be stacked in a realistic way.

This is an excellent toy. All parts are made of a heavy-duty soft rubber. Vibrant colors. Very realistic looking. Same can be said of the shape sorting cupcake sister product made by the same company. My two year old daughter and 4 y.o. son both love playing with this in their pretend kitchen.

My husband and I bought this for our niece and nephew who are age 2 yrs 8 months and 1 year four months. They love to play with this together. The older one will place the ice cream caps in a row for the younger one to stack. Then he claps his hands and says, "Again!" She un-stacks them and puts them in a row. They played this over and over together. My sister (their mother) tells me it is a great toy.

This toy was at my daughter's language school when we registered she loved it. Since she rec'vd hers at home she plays with it alot. The only thing I would mention is that sometimes the cone colors don't stack well. It is a good learning tool for her.

In the land of pretend foods, this ice cream set ranks in the top tier - and then they've gone and made it educational, too. I have the original set (each cone is a solid color, not mottled with white as in the illustration), and kids love it. There hasn't been a tremendous deal of attention paid to the color names written inside, but they love stacking the colors, trying to invent pretty color patterns, playing ice cream shop and including the cone and ice cream shapes in their general play in all kinds of ways. The pieces are very well made. I love this toy.

We have a lot of fun with these ice cream cones. They are a very heavy duty rubber and very durable. They stay on the cone tightly (sometimes hard for smaller kids to get on and off) and the ice cream scoops themselves can also stack very well on top of each other. They are fun to learn colors, flavors, and for pretend play!

I bought this for my now 3 year old daughter two years ago to help her start learning her colors. The set is made of plastic, which is easy to clean and very durable. After two years of heavy play by both of my girls (ages 3 and 8) and the little girl I babysit (who is also 3) the ice cream still looks new and they love it not only because we can play together and work with our colors ("Can I please have some green ice cream) but it is great for food play. My only complaint would be that it's hard for little kids to be able to put the first scoop of ice cream on and off the cone, so I constantly have to do it for them. While this annoying, I'm kind of happy it is that way because there is no accidents where your ice cream falls off the cone. It fits very snugly.

I'm actually purchasing this for my 2 year old nephew this year for Christmas to help him with his colors.

Great toy that doesn't require batteries and can grow with a child for years!

My 2 year old received these for her birthday and she LOVES them! She loves playing pretend with them as well as stacking and sorting. Also great for learning colors! Very durable and can see them lasting for a very long time. We even play with them in the bath tub! :-)
