Every so often I wipe them with a wet cloth but they do not even require that.

I would like to mount the solar panel on a higher position so the pump can start running earlier in the day.

It put out quite a bit of air when the sun was out but after a day or two, my mind started to change.

I have a small pond, about 200 gallons, I have just started to establish. The pump is working great.
PROS:
1. The hose is standard air hose you can purchase at any pet store. I added 15 feet of hose so I could place the air stones in the pond while allowing me to cover the pump a few feet away. I weighted the hose down by using silicone-aquarium sealer to glue a number of small pebbles to the hose, after curing, I placed the hose in and it has stayed in place.
2. When the sun is shinning the volume of air is very good for a small to medium pond, the air was sufficient to circulate the water and eliminate the anaerobic "pond" smells that occur before the pond matures.
3. The air stones included in my set are good. I broke one and the replacement does not match the performance of the original. The next time I replace an air stone I will make sure it produces coarse bubbles.
WOULD LIKE TO SEE:
1. Optional longer power cable. I would like to mount the solar panel on a higher position so the pump can start running earlier in the day. Oxygen levels in ponds are lowest just before sunrise so the sooner the pump gets going the better.
2. Optional battery back up with a larger solar panel so the pump could run 24/7.
CONS:
1. Nothing significant yet, except the air pump is a little noisy, (that's why I moved it away from the pond under a cover), but only a little louder than a large air pump you could buy for a home aquarium. Covering the pump muffles the sound.

IF IT STOPS WORKING, you may consider this as a solution
After about a year of use the pump stopped working. I was very disappointed, but because I like this so much I thought I would try to repair it.

This solar powered oxygenator, or aerator as I would call it, works excellently. Installation is a snap. The only actual assembly required is to plug the air lines onto the air outlets of the small motor. That's it.

The sequence of the whole process from start to finish is as follows: Simply place solar unit where it will get sunlight, place attached motor wherever you want within the 10 feet cord length from the solar panel, and then attach the two air tubes to the motor air outlets and drop the aerators, already attached to the tubes, into the water. The tube length is 6 feet, each tube.

What I did was attach an ounce of fishing lead weight, bought at walmart, to each aerator so the lines sink to the bottom.

As soon as sun hits the solar panel the aerators start putting out their air bubbles. That's it. All automatic. Just need the sun. The solar unit is so small that it's nothing to move it around to follow the sun if you wish.

The solar panel with the stake is so handy, and works with direct sun as stated in the product guide. Watching my koi fish swim though the tiny bubbles was fun to watch. However, the cord was quite short so I am not able to put it at a spot in my garden which catches sunlight the longest. I would have rated this 5 stars if not for the short cord.

check this link which list numerous complaints about this item and supports my claims below - [...]

After my 3 year old 1 line solar aerator broke down, this one seemed more appealing with the 2 lines. I purchased this at a higher price point - close to $100 with shipping and tax.

At first it worked great, lots of power and air bubbles. I live in Arizona and have several solar products, some path lights among them, that are only supposed to operate for 8 hours each evening. Given the abundant sunlight here, mine work from dusk to dawm day after day. I have had many of these items for years and I just replace the batteries every few years, wipe the solar panels a few times a year and they run perfectly year after year. I say all this to eliminate a lack of sun driven power as the cause of this units many problems.

First, the output from the unit became less and less each day.

Now, after about 3 months, the solar panel is producing power intermitently, even when held directly in bright sunlight. As I said I have MANY other solar panels and they never do this. Every so often I wipe them with a wet cloth but they do not even require that. This thing is a tempermental piece of junk!!!!

As if all that were not enough - I had to unplug the motor from the panel because the sound it was making could be heard inside the house and was deafening when outside in the backyard. It is making a loud grinding sound - clearly the motor is a piece of junk as well.

Save your money - DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF PRODUCT!!!!!!!!

Its two key elements - motor and solar panel - are very poorly made and will not last more than a few months - just as long as it takes you to have no recourse to the retailer or manufacturer.

I purchased this about 4 months ago for use in my water trough. We have a vacation home in the desert and there is no shade for the water. Has been up and running with no problems and has helped with the algae.

This little solar pump is a trooper. It did an amazing job oxygenating my pond. It was easy to set up and started working right away. I only had to move the solar panel once near the end of Summer to accommodate for the changes in the sun pattern. A very good product!
