I've had this birdbath for one Summer and am sorely disappointed. First of all, it is very top heavy and I had to fill the bottom section of the base with sand which wasn't an easy task because there was only a very small hole on the ground side of the base, and then I had to seal the hole so the sand would stay in. Worth the effort because it made it a bit more stable.
Secondly, the solar panel does not store power, even for two seconds. When a cloud passes over on a sunny day, the fountain immediately stops. If a bird lands on the sunny side of the edge, the fountain stops. When a bird takes a bath, the fountain stops. Pass a hand over it, the fountain stops. I noticed that in the picture of this bath the solar panel appears to be round. Mine is square so maybe they've improved it?
Worst of all, it is painted. This was unexpected as I assumed it was dyed green resin. The paint has peeled inside the bath and does not look attractive at all. Each time I cleaned it more paint peeled. The resin inside and along the edges of the bath has bubbled in the sun. It's not the paint that bubbling, it's the actual material of the bath. I'm in the Northwest so it never gets overly hot here, in fact this year we had a very cool summer.
Huge disappointment.
