Forget about the the landscape solar lights you stick in the ground on a stake... After taking those out to cut grass or just wear and tear make them in effective plus the lights are dim..... These ones....wow..... I drilled a hole ...sunk them in and turned them on and wow ......greatttttt! They are out of the way, recessed, neat, water proof, stainless steal....and a bright light for one led...... remember this an accent lighting not a flood light smile......

They can be sunk in the ground on in a wall, facing up or on its side, works great and the charge last easily 8-10 hours a day..... charges in good light or when cloudy......

well worth the price.........

These lights look great in the garden during the day. The quality looks good. I have them placed near steps that range from full sun to 90% shade. The units in full sun are bright until about 9 PM when they start to lose power and finally power off about midnight. The ones in the shade or partial shade are never bright and power off about 8 PM, sometimes the ones in the shadiest spots do not come on at all. If you have a full sun location for these I would recommend them highly, otherwise something else would be a better fit.

I purchased two different types of solar step lights to see what we would like in our new landscaping outside. We put batteries in them, turned them on and placed them outside. This product's light comes from the center as a strong beam of light. Some days haven't been as sunlit as others, but it continues to produce fairly decent spot lighting all through the night and into the first part of the morning. Time will tell, but we like the light they put out, we plan to purchase some more to install in the dirt area around our front yard.

I agree/echo most of what the other reviewers have already posted here, especially the point about these being ACCENT lights NOT FLOOD lights. One reviewer also said they need to make these of a smaller diameter; I'll partially agree; the size is good for the right space but I wish they would make not only this size but ALSO a smaller diameter light of the same style.

I would have given these 5 stars BUT out of the 3 lights that I ordered, 1 came with dead batteries (the others are partially charged so when you follow the instructions to turn them on, if you cover the light sensor you can seen that it works). I corrected this/confirmed what was wrong by taking the batteries out & swapping them between 2 of the units (usually people are going to buy a few of these lights anyway BUT I think I should stress how important it is to do like I did & buy at least 3 or more of these at a time so that you can trouble shoot a problem like I did. I always try to fix things IF they show up in non-working order because I dread returning things & will avoid it like the plague!); make no mistake, changing the batteries "sounds" easy but it's actually quite a chore with these (you'll need a jeweler's philip's screwdriver & some pliers that can grip the screwdriver to open the battery compartment). The batteries inside are NiMH; I used my eneloop battery charger to revive the dead batteries (recharged them in ~2hrs! :) The batteries were dead because they probably don't sell too many of these, considering that EACH 1 cost almost as much as a set of 10 of the cheapees!

With all that said, you're now pretty well versed on these things & can buy with confidence! I can now say this for myself too (having actually gone through the process once ;) & will be buying more of these!

Good product, works well, loses a star for being pricey but needed another one ( have bought a set before ) for one that died after 5 years.

1) Need even brighter diodes...
2) Need to be smaller diameter...

Even with these suggestions these lights are fantastic. You might have to unscrew the lights to touch the inside switch to turn these on the first time you use them.

Solar lighting is great - no wiring, no power supplies, no permits, no code inspections, no electric bill. What we need next is led lightbulbs with a little solar panel we can put outside... kind of like we have with weather stations that have outdoor/indoor sensors. Now that would be awesome!

When I first installed them, I thought I loved them. After losing several of the $3 lights on a stick from Walmart, the idea of lights buried flush to the ground sounded good. I had trouble with several of on/off switches, which are only accessible by taking the whole light apart. I had 3 units replaced and continue to have problems with the touchy switches. While none have been damaged by being run over, they barely cast any light, especially when the grass grows an inch or two.

At $25/each compared to the $3 units from Walmart, I'll stick with the cheapos in the future.

These are by far the best LED lights I've seen. Very bright, last all night and are a professional quality light. Really do a great job and look fantastic in my patio as up-lighting.

But...I purchased six of these light and now three of them are not working after less then a year. I called the company and their customer service was not very good. The first one I had go out I called the company and they had me take the batteries for a day to reset it. Then I had to contact them again after it still didn't come back on and they sent a replacement. Now I have another three that are not working. I'm not looking forward to contacting their customer service again.

If I rated the light and quality of the light when they are working, I would give it 5 stars. Because I have had issues with them less then a year later and their customer service is really not great, I can't give it more then 3 stars.
