5.0 out of 5 stars Most Informative and Useful
I wanted a book for my 13 year old grandson as he heads into the girls-phase of his life. I was impressed enough with this book that I read the whole thing myself, and have purchased several copies for friends and a colleague to give to their teens or grandchildren.

The book is down to earth and sensible. Has all the tips and pointers I wish I had known...

I'm a mom writing this; not a teen. This is great book and it covers a lot of good topics. Be forewarned, it tells your teen exactly how to use condoms, exactly how to do everything the best way. It covers a lot of STD transmission which is outstanding but then it tells teens how much ___play to do be4 having sex. I think the book goes too far thus discounting its...

I wanted a book for my 13 year old grandson as he heads into the girls-phase of his life. I was impressed enough with this book that I read the whole thing myself, and have purchased several copies for friends and a colleague to give to their teens or grandchildren.

The book is down to earth and sensible. Has all the tips and pointers I wish I had known about 45 years ago! There are no pictures or drawings of anatomy, so this isn't a primer for "where do babies come from," but has the more important information about emotions, social issues, and how to get through the dating scene without the usual bumps that teens encounter.

This book tells teens everything they need to know about teenage relations. From friendships to dating, from relationships and sex. This book tells you more than your Health class. I found this book to give every situation on dating, relationships, and sex. It teaches you how to kiss, survive a breakup, and know when you are ready for sex. Plus, this book has quizzes like "Are You Ready To Date", "Top 10 Turn-ons", "10-Step Guide to Giving a Killer Kiss." This book has actual letters from real teens about almost every topic so show that you aren't the only one going through that. Everyone does at some point!

4.0 out of 5 stars A good place to start, March 8, 2007
This review is from: What Smart Teenagers Know...About Dating, Relationships & Sex (Paperback)
Both of my teenagers got a lot from this book. While it was a bit heavy on the relationship therapy and light on the nuts and bolts of safe sex, it did bring up discussion topics that we'd missed in earlier conversations. Particularly for my son, who is not as comfortable as his sister in talking about this "stuff" with his parent, it was a way to at least introduce some of these ideas and make him look beyond the status of being seen with the gal in the shortest skirt to try to see how his actions would affect the person wearing it. Definitely worthwhile.

5.0 out of 5 stars Thank you, Deb Hatchell!, May 22, 2004

I found this book to be fun, yet to the point. If you have a teenager in your life, you will want to give them a copy -- it could be a life-saver for them, and you'll rest easier knowing they have accurate information. Deb's voice is one you can trust. The book seems especially helpful for parents with teens who don't want to have a heart-to-heart talk with them about the facts of life. Or for those who do and just want a primer before the talk... Our kids are inheriting a handful with this world we're passing on... Let's give them all the help that we can in navigating the myriad of choices they face...

I don't feel comfortable giving this entire book to my 15 year old. I'm not ready for my teen to have a through explaination of orgasms. So read it before you hand it over!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must-Have Guide for ANY Parent or Teen- Ager!!!, September 15, 2003

This review is from: What Smart Teenagers Know...About Dating, Relationships & Sex (Paperback)
I wish this book had existed when I was a teenager! Actually, there's quite a lot for any age to learn from here. This book is so very thorough and well thought out, that you can pick it up and read any section and get tons of valuable info. There are helpful stories, tips, quotes, examples, suggestions, etc. The best part is that the author, Deborah Hatchell, has written it in a very friendly and genuine manner. She is the single mother of a teenager and knows her stuff. It doesen't ever talk down to the reader, and that's why this book succeeds. If you are a parent, or a teenager, or just interested in improving your relationship skills, read this book!!!
