5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read For ALL Women, January 15, 2009
This review is from: Smart Women Protect Their Assets: Essential Information for Every Woman About Wills, Trusts, and More (Paperback)
Wynne Whitman has written another informative and essential book that will help women of all ages and economic status in protecting their hard earned assets. She makes you realize just how important it is to protect yourself before the unthinkable happens. This is definitely a book that should be purchased, read, saved, and read again. Trusting advice from a respected and accomplished estate planning attorney.

5.0 out of 5 stars The topics that no one really wants to think about, but really should!, July 19, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This ranks up in my top 3 of truly USEFUL downloads for my Kindle.

The author is clearly knowledgeable and has a writing style that is easily accessible. The topics are given a nice description and then there are plenty of details...more in some areas than I need to read about in one sitting but I know will be there for reference when I need them. She does a great job giving definitions and does a REALLY great job of telling you why all this is important. She is able to give plenty of examples and 'what ifs' so it is all relate-able to real life. The author also supplies to-do lists and check lists at the end of several sections to help you organize yourself. I also like how she doesn't assume the woman isn't the bread winner (as so many of these types of books do). She includes many, many variations of life circumstances. Often using the Brady Bunch as examples!

I'll put in the listing of basic contents, but I highly recommend that you download a sample, that way you can see the full details of the the chapter subheadings (and yes, this was how the capitals were done in the book):

Chapter 1: Why Should You Worry About Estate Planning?
Chapter 2: What Exactly Does Your Estate Include?
Chapter 3: Is It Really That Important To Think About Taxes?
Chapter 4: Who Makes Sure Everything You Want To Have Happen Happens When You're Gone?
Chapter 5: What Will Happen To Your Loved Ones?
Chapter 6: What's A Will? What's A Trust? How Do You Use Them To Put Your Plan Into Place?
Chapter 7: What If You Want To Get Fancy With Your Planning?
Chapter 8: What If You Get Sick and Can't Make Decisions?
Chapter 9: Is There Anything Else You Should Do To Be Prepared?
Chapter 10: How Do You Talk To Your Loved Ones About Your Death?
Chapter 11: What Should You Do In Special Situations?
Chapter 12: What Happens If You Are Appointed as a Fiduciary?
Conclusion: Estate Planning Checklist
Suggested Resources
Glossary
Index

The content includes about 2300 Kindle 'locations' before the resources, glossary and index kick in....and it's nice to see a book like this have these at the end--very useful!

I can't say I 'enjoyed' this book, but I found it very educational and useful. I don't think the advice is only 'female' and anyone can benefit from the planning--male/female/breadwinner/not-breadwinner/happily married/living with a 'ball-and-chain' etc.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, Practical Information, August 7, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
As a Financial Advisor, and Certified Divorce Financial Analyst, I applaud Wynne's book as it provides readers with much of the same, practical, non-confrontational advice that I typically provide to my women clients. It is essential for all adults to have financial independence and to be completely educated about their finances and legal requirements. Understanding wills, insurance, trusts, benefits, etc is a critical requirement that sadly many women (and men) simply choose to ignore, typically to their own detriment. Thank you Wynne.
