North American buyers beware!,

As of the time I am writing this review, Amazon.com does not clearly state that this UPS cannot be used in North America. The "Intl" and "230v" in the item name and the fact that the letter "I" is at the end of the model number are indicative of the fact that this is an "international" model, meaning that it is not designed to work in the United States. Don't be fooled by the U.S. dollar symbol on Amazon's page-or by the fact that the "item can be shipped only within the U.S." as of the date of this review.I bought this UPS, unpacked it, plugged it into the wall, and the battery charged overnight. But when I pressed the On button, no lights lit up on the front panel. I'm glad I called APC technical support before trying to plug anything into it; I was informed that it would have probably "fried" my equipment if I had done so. This item might work fine in other countries, but stay away from this model if you need a UPS that can be used in North America. |
