I would recommend these for your dog.

Secondly, one large "SmartBone" takes my large breed dog no more than 5 minutes to devour.

Now I have one very sick dog on my hands, which will probably end at the vets office.

We bought a SmartBone from Petsmart (not Amazon) but were so disappointed that we wanted to warn as many people as possible. Our dog loved it, but within seconds the end of the bone popped off and she almost choked on it. Then she got really hyperactive and was breathing hard for a long time afterwards. There's a lot of sugar in this product and none in her regular food, so we think she had some sort of sugar rush. She's just now starting to calm down several hours later. All that aside, the bone didn't last nearly as long as it should (for the price), and the mental anguish just isn't worth it. Spend your money elsewhere.

I bought these for our dogs (Samoyed, and a Golden Retriever.) They liked them, but ate them in a matter of a few minutes.
My biggest complaint....that they are made in China.
I won't buy them again.

I purchased these bones for my two large dogs. I purchased the largest bones available, thinking this will keep my dogs busy for a while.

Man, was I wrong. My dogs went through a large bone each within thirty minutes.

Now I have one very sick dog on my hands, which will probably end at the vets office.

First of all, the ingredients listed on Amazon are not nearly as complete as the ingredients listed on the actual bag. One of my dogs is allergic to peas and carrots, both of which are in the ingredient list on the bag, but not listed on the site.

Secondly, one large "SmartBone" takes my large breed dog no more than 5 minutes to devour. At three dollars a bone, this is way too expensive.

I've been on a rampage to find the perfect dog treat for my three catahoula leopard dogs and decided to give smart bones a try. For my two chow-hounds they finished a large bone in 1min:26sec while my female took 7min:45sec (I time them as part of the cost analysis in finding a durable but not going to break-their-teeth-treat). Obviously this means they loved it, but being a bit brittle a determined dog could eat this treat too quickly to get much of the "needed chewing exercise" advertised on the back.

The other red flag that I picked up on is that the bones are made in China. Given all the kidney failure cases in pets in 2007 from wheat gluten imported from China, I would imagine that a conscientious pet treat company would try to localize their manufacturing. I love that these chews are not made of rawhide, which my dogs love but of course cannot digest.

Will absolutely NOT give my dogs rawhide-worst thing in the world for them. But what to give as their reward or for their relaxing time? These bones are a great answer. Don't have to worry about all the side effects and dangers of rawhide. These are completely digestible, and my dogs love the peanut butter and the veggie ones. It does concern me they are made in China. Would like some assurance that they are closely monitored for product manufacturing safety and cleanliness. No problems so far giving these every day to three dogs as their reward after they have eaten dinner. Have to make sure they eat their regular food first, it's easy for them to get filled up on these.

We have been getting these for quite some time for our black lab. He eats rawhide too quickly and ends up regurgitating it all over the floor. So, on the advice of our vet, we tried something else. We tried these after many other products. These are gone as quickly as rawhide (with my dog, that's 10 minutes... TOPS!), but he doesn't have the digestive issues. The fact that they chew up similar to rawhide is a big plus, since I don't like it when he can't finish it in one sitting - that's just a yucky mess laying around on the floor.
I highly recommend these SmartBones for anyone whose dog can't digest rawhide well.

My dogs are terriers, so they like to chew. Rawhide is not good for them, so I was glad that I found this chicken flavored alternative. It doesn't make them sick, and they seem to like the flavor. They love it and happy dogs = happy owners.
