Product Description

Product Description

3 - 8 years. Three happy trucks are on the way to their next destination. They need to pick up a load of packages before they can depart, but will the haul fit? Can you help them stack everything properly, so it all fits in the back of the truck? Trucky 3 evolves in step with your child's skills. Toddlers initially play with the trucks, loading them up and emptying them, and driving them round like a toy car. Kids who are a bit older can play the game, working through the 48 exciting challenges that are easy at first, then gradually get more and more difficult.

From the Manufacturer

From SmartGames, the worldwide leader in single player puzzle games, comes Trucky 3. Flex your logic muscles by filling the three trucks using geometric block pieces, but make sure that none of the trucks are overflowing! Choose from challenges using one, two, or three trucks and different blocks as shown in the included booklet. With simple challenges for inexperienced builders to complex puzzles that will challenge skilled players, Trucky 3 is a fun, award-winning way to develop logical thinking skills and spatial reasoning abilities.

I actually got a chance to see this at the Toy Fair and I fell in love. I am a professional toy reviewer and even though the toy company was willing to send me a sample, I couldn't wait. I just had to get it for my own son ASAP.

Trucky 3 (Not "Trucky the Third"- "3" because there are 3 trucks) is a game in which you are given a few partly symmetrical 3-dimensional shapes and are asked to make them fit in a transparent container of a truck. The containers are differently shaped and so are the shapes themselves.

You must move them around and make them all fit and believe me, when you get 7 oddly-shaped 3D blocks and you have to fill up 2 containers with them, you can get lost. Yes, the age is 3+ but don't think a grown-up can't get stumped once in a while.

Even though my youngest son is not a logic game lover, something told me that Trucky 3 could change things and it did! When he got the game, he loved it and started playing with the trucks immediately. Then, he started solving the problems and after solving a few, he started getting frustrated. I helped a little bit and then he was able to finish a tough one. He was elated.

To help him remember his problem solving strategies, I asked my son "Why do you think you were able to solve it?" I didn't get an answer of how he turned the blocks by modeling 360-degree turns, instead he quietly said...

"My brain is good."

When a child discovers he can do something- and he discovered this all on his own, the feeling of pride just has to be gigantic, right?

To be sure, the educational experts I consulted about this toy were on the same page with me.

My 4.5 yr old has been playing with this since opening it on Xmas. I was a bit worried that once he figured out the easier ones that he would not want to come back to it as the harder ones might be too frustrating. Not the case at all. Everytime he sits down with it he enjoys the satisfaction of the easy levels and the challenge of the harder ones.

Another great thing is that it is decently portable. Would be a good distraction for something like a plane ride.

This is one of our FAVORITES!!! My 4 year old son just loves it. It was the first brain game that captured his attention. He loves figuring out how to place the pieces into the backs of the trucks. He also loves the fact that the trucks really roll. It is a WONDERFUL way to introduce strategy & logic games to little ones.

We LOVE Trucky! I have a 3 year old daughter and a 2 year old son. My son already loves to play with the shapes while my daughter works on the puzzles. It's colorful and engaging, and also very durable. My daughter is learning a lot from doing the puzzles. It's perfect for spatial awareness in a different way than traditional jigsaw puzzles or blocks. My daughter has always been incredible with jigsaw puzzles for her age and is great at building with blocks, but Trucky is very challenging for her because it's a whole new way of thinking compared to those other tasks. I consider this to be a huge plus!

Terrific game! My son has had it for years and still loves it. The book progresses to harder challenges and at age 7 the difficult ones still pose a challenge and the easier ones are fun for a quick success. One problem is the puzzle book. The answers are on the back of each page. Before my son realized it I tore each page out and put the pages in a CHEAP photo album. Three years later he still does not know the answers are there. It bothers me when AWESOME toys get a bad review because parents can't fix small problems. My son has many logic games. I always take the book as soon as he receives it to see if I need to "edit" it.

A wonderful toy that provided HOURS of thinking fun!

I got this for my puzzle loving son for his third birthday. He enjoyed it off and on and I thought it was a great toy. But starting about two weeks ago, 2 months before his 4th birthday, he started playing it nonstop! Every day for hours at a time, and without cheating and looking at the answers. And by himself. This game has been fantastic for me too, I can get things done around the house while he's happily playing. And, as an added bonus the company is fantastic. We lost a piece while on vacation and I wrote to smart games to order a replacement. They sent me the piece free of charge! We will be buying more smart games in the future.

This is so much harder than I expected. Many of the reviews say three-year-olds enjoy it, and while my 4.5 year old enjoys it, it definitely challenges him (actually, my hubby earned a 99%tile on the LSAT and it challenges him). I was hoping my son would be able to play this on his own, during quiet time, but it'll be a while before we get there.

Sometimes he prefers looking at the answer sheet and just figuring out how to solve it from there (because even then you have to figure out the right angles). I would definitely try another SmartGames toy, as I think this will be played with for years to come.
