This is one of the few shows I look forward to each new season. My spouse, who hates SciFi, LOVES Eureka. It's one of the only shows we truly enjoy together. And, THE ONLY SciFi show neither of us can wait for. We're heartbroken when each season comes to a close. I don't even want to know how we're going to feel when the credits role on the final episode, this season.

I doubt any of the cast or crew read these posts, but, just in case, I want to say, "Thank you!"

THANK YOU for making FIVE wonderfully fun seasons of this fun, imaginative, and completely unique show. You have made a fantastic program that you should be incredibly proud of for years to come. I will look forward to seeing the talented cast members in new shows, on other networks. You have made a raving fan out of me, and my spouse.

But, alas, I will miss not seeing you all in Eureka each summer.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Forever a fan...
Julie

To the SyFy channel...

You've cancelled Eureka, all Stargate shows, and now, Sanctuary. And, you are systematically removing all trace of truly original/imaginative SCIENCE-FICTION/FANTASY programs from your schedule and replacing them with trashy reality game shows, wrestling, and ghost hunters/fact finders. I have one program left on your channel that I watch, and I can say that if you also cancel that, I will have no further reason to watch, or recommend, your network that I have been a fan of since it charged onto the cable airwaves in 1992. With all my friends and family, who love SciFi as much as I do, 'SyFy' has become a joke. You keep cancelling the best, most creative, most imaginative programs you have.

YOU have LOST this fan.

This show has been my favorite, I can't believe they canceled it! The show let one's self escape their lives for the duration of an episode, yet still making you think and challenge one's brain with the science. I will miss not being able to watch Sheriff Carter deal with the antics of a town of super geniuses. I will miss this series very much! );

I fell for this show after watching the 1st couple episodes(season 1) on syfy. Now after ONLY 5 seasons they decide to pull the plug on the show. This show could have gone on longer than night court's run of what 8-9 seasons, as it's got quality writing & acting, and a unique storyline! I will seriously miss this show, as most of what is on t.v. today you couldn't make me watch the garbage their showing at gunpoint.I guess I 'll have to content myself by watching my collections of Johnny Carson, Night Court, Cheers,Miami Vice, and now also R.I.P. House. Quality cable & broadcast shows are a dying breed, especially the origional idea shows that aren't a copy of someone elses earlier shows.R.I.P. Eureka!

Add me to that list of people who will miss this underrated show. SyFy keeps pulling all the good stuff, but adding wrestling to the SCIENCE FICTION channel. Farewell Eureka, you were one of the greats, cancelled before your time. Can't wait to get my DVD delivered the day after the series wraps up.

UPDATE 7/16/2012

Received my copy of season 5 today, and it's fantastic (I actually forgot, I pre-ordered it on May 15). All the episodes, of course, including the animated Christmas episode (let's face it, the two Christmas episodes for this series are going to become classic Christmas episodes in the Sci-Fi genre).. it's got some extras, deleted scenes, gag reels, extended scenes, and even the tribute "Ode to Carl the Jeep" - A nice final package for a wonderful series that will be missed... SyFy cancelled Stargate (all of them), Battlestar Galactica, and many other great Science Fiction shows (in favor of 'reality' Ghost shows, and WRESTLING (???!!!???) ... but Eureka was especially hard to say goodbye too, because for many of us, it felt like home.

3 cheers for Dr. Trevor Grant! (Those of you who've seen Season 5, know what I mean)

As for the other things in life... Guess we'll just have to "Deal with it tomorrow"

I'm not surprised that SciFi Channel ended this show because all the USA channels are becoming Reality TV channels and SciFi is no different. I haven't figured out who actually enjoys Reality Shows but Eureka was one of the best shows on that channel. And seeing it leave will make me stop watching SciFi channel. Time to say enough to Reality Shows and get back to watching shows that entertain rather than mindless garbage that all the networks put out.

Beautiful wrap-up to an excellent show. The writers did a great job on circling back on some themes plus closing the loop on some characters. The last episode stayed true to its format while adding a little extra. Sad to see it go, farewell Eureka.

I've been a fan of Eureka since the beginning. I got hooked on the pilot and stayed with it for five wonderful seasons. It was pretty great to begin with, but it only got better with time. The timeline shift at the beginning of season four marked a huge (and, I think, fantastic) turning point in the show. I wanted to wait until season five ended and the dvds were released before attempting to review both. So here is my (admittedly biased) opinion...

Season 5 - Season five is the most ambitious yet. It picks up where season four left off - with the disappearance of the ship and the crew. The opening sequence is edge-of-your-seat entertaining and lets you know that you're in for a treat. The first three episodes are a trilogy and are best appreciated when seen together. The first episode (Lost) provoked a strong reaction from the fan base. It's extremely well done (Salli's acting was amazing, in particular), but I found it almost impossible to watch. Again, not because it wasn't well done, but just because it was so hard to see our characters endure what we later learn is a disorienting, computer matrix world. That said, you DO need to watch episode one in order to understand the rest of the season. It sets the tone for what's ahead. The fact that the fans care so much demonstrates that this is a show that really connects with it's audience - and that makes it something special.

Once our heroes return to our little town, they have to re-adjust to life again and that's the basis for the rest of the season. Along the way, we're treated to a body swapping episode, a disaster drill that's a little too realistic, a cognitive enhancing drug that's a little too effective, and a lengthy subplot about bioprinting a human life form. Told you it was ambitious!
