Nightmare Generator Engine.
on February 7, 2015
This generator is definitely been a pain in the neck. The pull rope kicks back so hard that it can pull you off your feet and has snapped the handle off twice from the pull rope. The electric start battery is weak and doesn't hold a charge for even a month. The worse part is the valves, which tied up so tightly once that I had to have the generator serviced, and to get the company to cover this under warranty was a nightmare of phone calls, emails. Once the generator was serviced, I brought it home and after a month it began exhibiting the same symptoms again. Now, the company states that they won't cover "tight valves" under warranty even though the generator only registers 1.9 hours and is less than 1 1/2 years old. In order to start the engine, I have to pull the rope carefully to release the compression on the piston, and then use the electric starter to start the engine. In addition, you MUST turn off the gas valve and let the engine run out the fuel in the carburetor after each use, or the float will stick open in the carburetor and you will end up with fuel in the oil chamber and then the low oil cut off will prevent the engine from starting, until you drain the oil case, refill with oil and hopefully start the engine quickly, sometimes a tap or two on the carburetor will cause float to unstick, but that doesn't work every time. Now the company through the warranty service company states that the valve tightening and the carburetor float are operating as designed and therefore not covered under warranty, also the warranty explicitly states that valve tightening is not covered. I guess the company expects these problems to occur so they have covered their asses from the git go.
