Author Daniel Solin addresses a wide range of financial situations we all face: whether to buy or rent, what kind of life insurance is best, how to plan for retirement and invest in the markets, etc. The chapters are short and written in clear language. I could see this book being a very good manual for a family throughout life.
I can't say I agree with every bit of advice: I lean toward term insurance while he sees usefulness in cash value policies. But he makes a clear argument for his side, and I can't dismiss out of hand that cash value may be worthwhile for the people he says would benefit.
Much of the advice included in this book can be found scattered in other personal finance books. But here it is presented in one place in a clear fashion. That makes this book so valuable, and earns my recommendation.

A concise, practical, well defined explanation of how to build a savings/investment program to fund one's retirement. I wish I'd read this book a long, long time ago - I would have not made some of the mistakes I did make through ignorance.
I read this book in 1 afternoon! It gets right to the point and you don't have to weed through a lot of blubber before he gets to the point. I found the information very helpful and was able to put the info to use right away on insurance and estate planning issues. Worth the read if you have some financial issues.
