4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Fairytale!! August 4, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This colorful children's book is easy-to-read and bound to bring pleasure to its young reading audience. The three little princesses very much enjoy being smart. They love learning something new everyday and visit the library on a regular basis to learn more about math, the arts and sciences, and other interesting topics. They also enjoy entering contests where they have the opportunity to be recognized for their intelligence.

In almost every championship, one of them would win except for one year when Violet appeared...and gave new meaning to what the contest should really be all about. She may not have been the smartest little girl; however, she managed to demonstrate some very admirable behavior. In "The Smartest Princess", Author Mary Lee has done a fine job of teaching a simple moral lesson that is bound to appeal to young children. The numerous bright and colorful pictures definitely add to this reading experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars Concern for Others June 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I LIKE that the princesses' favorite thing is going to the library, and I LOVE that winning the competition was about concern for others. This is a story of caring and triumph, and I highly recommend it with 5 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Book! August 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
As someone who has worked with children both in the US and abroad, I found this book to be thoroughly wonderful! The illustrations are vivid, the language is clear, and the story is engaging (it's the rare little girl who doesn't love princesses), and has a wonderful, multifaceted message about the true meaning and importance of intelligence. I think this is a rare book that will grow with its reader, capturing attention and interest for young girls who will then gain something new from it as they grow older. Also, as a bonus, this book features a multicultural cast of characters, thus allowing little girls of all colors to be able to see themselves within the pages! In short, I think this book is fantastic, and I can see little girls clamoring to read it again and again! Highly recommended!

3.0 out of 5 stars Important Message for Children August 2, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The illustrations were simple, cute, and colorful. I think that was actually the strongest point of this picture book. I did like that the princesses' favorite thing was going to the library, (always good to promote reading and learning especially at a young age) and the message of the book about caring for others was very clear and important.

Unfortunately, I did not like the prose. I found it difficult to read aloud because the text didn't flow. It also wasn't catchy. I do not see this as a book I will be asked to read over and over again. While it is a good book it is not in the favorite pile.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good lesson for all June 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
I a world where every little girl wants to be a princess, I found this kids book refreshing and rich in meaning. Not only does it place a high value on intelligence, but it teaches a nice lesson on kindness. My toddler loved the story and the pictures, but I loved the message even more. This is something that should be read to every little girl. BTW, this looked great on my Kindle Fire. I haven't gotten too many kids books on my device, but after this, I definitely will. It looks and reads wonderfully.
