I purchased the Solar Powered Floodlight by Smarthome at the end of June and we love it. I bought a different one at a local, big blue hardware store, and it doesn't work as well as this one. We needed light in our backyard for safety and our dogs as we live on a nice piece of land with a path behind us. It is hard to see the dogs at nighttime when they go out to do their business. The other floodlight that we bought about 1 month before this one, doesn't pick up our dogs when they are in the yard. The only one also only stays on for a few seconds. The Smarthome picks up on our dogs when they are in the yard and it picks up people who walk behind our fence at night and with the time adjustment, it works so much better. I would recommend this product to anyone and, I actually have. My husband and I may purchase a few more to light up the rest of our property for safety and the dogs.

I bought this several months ago. I was finally able to get it to turn on after a week of charging, but it was so dim, it was useless. I'd get better results from the cheapo solar path lights. It hasn't worked after the first day, and I was never able to adjust it to pick up movement within 10 feet. AT that time it cost $83. Very dissapointing.

This gadget is a real help. When I took the dog out after dark I was negotiating a flight of stairs with one hand on the leash and the other on a flashlight. Since I'm in my 70s this was not wise. Now the photo-sensor picks up our motion, completely lights the steps, and I can hold onto the railing with the free hand. The solar cell charged up in 3 days as promised even though we had cloudy weather. I am waiting to see if I'll have enough solar power for the extra light needed when the days get shorter and the nights get longer.

The solar light failed to light after 2 weeks of use. I have left a message for the vendor regarding the defect but have not received a response.

This product is junk in my eyes. I installed it per the instructions, put it UNDER an overhang and after 1 week, the light would not come on. Complete waste of money. Amazon should pull this product from it's website or fear ruining their reputation.

Low cost, easy to install and set up. Perfect for walkways and any area around the home where a little more "light security" is needed but where outlets or electricity are not accessible. Multiple settings for light and detector position as well as for motion/IR and light/dark sensitivity, and "light on" duration. The manufacturer says that the battery should last 3 years - with minimal/modest use that is exactly how long my unit's battery lasted! Besides the hassle of having to take the entire unit down and apart to replace the battery, it is probably overall more cost effective to just buy another unit and put the new one up anyway.
