Product Description

Editorial Review

Infants and toddlers will have fun getting their hands inside this friendly-faced cookie jar. As soon as the toy was removed from the box, our 9-month-old tester was intrigued. He grabbed onto the three-dimensional shapes (or "cookies") sized perfectly for little hands to hold. After tossing and rolling the shapes across the floor, he sat down to check out the cookie jar. He learned to put the shapes inside and outside of the jar opening, which triggered the hidden sensor to play the tune "Muffin Man." When he gets older he'll be able to practice sorting the shapes into their designated slots on the side of the cookie jar. Parents will appreciate the adjustable volume control and how easily the shapes store inside of the jar. Three AA batteries are included. --Lauren Bernard

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun for babies to toddlers, November 30, 2000

This interested our daughter beginning around 3 months of age, although she didn't really play with it until she could hold onto its parts. There are several ways children can activate the sounds; when they put their hand inside the jar, when they put the shapes through the openings on the side, and when the nose is pressed. There's a switch to set the sounds to shapes or numbers (each "cookie" shape is numbered) so when put through the side openings, the jar will say "triangle" or "three," along with other words and sounds like "Yummy," "I love you," chimes, and giggles.

I think this toy is adorable, fun, and educational. Babies can enjoy the noises and toddlers can understand what they mean.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Shape Sorter available, June 12, 2001

We got this for my son for Christmas when he was 6 months old. He liked the music and sounds but wasn't able to play with it much until he started crawling. He's now 11 1/2 months old and this is one of his favorite toys. He takes it out and plays with it everyday. I really like it because, in addition to teaching shapes, numbers, and colors, this is an excellent toy for developing motor skills. My son takes each block out one at a time and then puts them back one at a time and puts on the lid. This toy is a keeper and will NOT be in a garage sale soon.

This toy was a big hit at our house. With two toddlers, this toy has gotten lots of use. It has stood up to the challenge of toddlers, and is still intriguing to my 3-year old who thinks of it as a coffee maker(Oh, well!?). My 1-year old is still trying to figure out how the shapes go, but it provides music and sounds even if shape sorting success has not been mastered. The volume control is an added bonus. I have found this to be one of the best toys in our house. I have purchased it as gift for the children of several friends and they love it too.
