After using synthetic socks for activities from in-line skating to hiking and loving them, I found out about Smartwool socks after bying a Smartwool zip t-shirt for use as a mid layer for outdoor winter activities. These socks are incredibly comfortable with great padding on the bottom. They also kept my feet nice and warm when hiking in the snow with it being 20 degrees outside. I would highly recommend them.

Can't say enough good stuff about Smartwool socks. I live in them all winter long. The difficulty is finding the right heft. I find the "hiking medium" to be good for day-to-day winter activities in Seattle.

I am an occasional hiker. I bought my first pair of these socks 12 years ago for hiking. I still use the same pair of socks regularly. I have since bought several more pairs. They are comfortable in boots in the summer. They are warm in the house in the winter. I love these socks. All of my family and friends are getting a pair for Christmas this year. And these socks will be the best Christmas present they get this year.

My husband loves these socks and requested more for Christmas. He wears them all the time and especially likes the way they feel when he wears boots, either work boots or casual boots. The wool is not scratchy, the socks launder well, and they have a medium cushion for comfort. It wicks moisture away from your foot, so there is minimal odor. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars is because there is no sizing chart on the ordering information. I ordered a Large just guessing. The socks came and the sticker on the packaging says US Mens: 9-11.5 My husband wears a 9.5 so thankfully a Large was the right size. I hope this helps someone else. I don't know why Amazon cannot include the number sizes in parentheses next to the S, M, and L. It sure would help. BTW, I ordered these in the color gray, not knowing exactly what kind of gray it was. I am very happy with the color - it is super neutral and would go easily with jeans or khakis.

Needed to change to different socks for my hiking boots. With the new orthotics that I have my sock system of 30 years (sock liner and wool ragg socks) was too tight. SmartWool socks give me the performance of wool and the fit of a synthetic sock. After two years they hold up well and keep their shape. A much cheaper solution than replacing all of my outdoor boots.

the only draw back was not having a size chart available for these socks.

The SmartWool hiking socks are an excellent product. Keep feet dry, and good selection of weights.

This are perfect for everyone. Carpenters, hikers and all ask for them by name. Fast shipping and the warmest, most comfortable sock there is.

These socks are simply the best. They hold up well and wash well. They keep your feet warm and dry in winter and cool and dry in the summer. They are worth every penny.

Ordered these from Amazon the first chance I got after arriving in Northern Afghanistan. Shipment arrived in about 5 days (absolutely amazing) and I put on the minute they arrived. Feet have been warm ever since, perfect for being outdoors and not too warm when indoors. I am hooked on Smartwool socks and a customer for life.
