My first experience with Smartwool socks was when I went backpacking in Europe. I packed lightly and only brought two pairs of socks, Smartwool socks. They were absolutely awesome. I wore them everyday for 5 weeks, alternating between the pair. They handwash incredibly easily in the sink and are completely dry incredibly quickly! (in hot weather they sometimes were dry in 10 minutes).

I bought those socks over a year ago, and only one of the pairs is now showing signs of wear on high pressure areas of my foot. (I wore them everyday for 2 months, while I was on vacation, and then multiple times a week, for over a year!) The wool seems to have faded away, but the nylon(?) which holds the shape of the sock itself is still there. So.. I will wear these socks until the holes becomes more noticeable.

I will always wear Smartwools now. They fit well, the shape of the sock prevents any uncomfortable ankle-grinding from shoes as well.

Though, I should add that I've not tried any other wool socks, or Smartwool competitors. I simply will stick with them because I've had a good experience with them.

this is my first pair of wool running socks and I am highly impressed.
i thought they might make my feet itch after a decent run, but not an issue.
they are warm too when wearing around the house.

I could go into some convoluted explanation of my past that helps gives context to my personal decision to buy these socks. Or I could tell you why I love them. I think option B is ultimately more helpful. Reason 1) they are warm; 2) they keep my feet dry and cozy; 3) they are micro, so they work well when I wear shorts; 4) they aren't bulky, so they fit into my shoes very well; 5) I totally dig the color. That long, convoluted explanation of my past I mentioned would detail why these points are exactly what I was looking for, but I'm pretty sure you don't really care. Just know this: I am definitely getting another pair.

I bought these on a recommendation and really wanted to like them...however, even though I bought and received the correct size, the heel of the sock kept slipping down into my shoe especially on hills. They seemed to fit correctly but the distance from the heel to the top of the sock seems awfully short. I did like the thickness (thin) and the quality but it is the only sock I’ve tried that won’t stay on my heel – won’t buy another pair and if they weren’t soaked in sweat I’d send them back.
I wear a size 12 and I bought X-Large (fits US shoe size 12-14.5) – can’t imagine someone with a size 14 wearing this size sock.

I usually run in Thor-lo Experia's, but I happened upon these on sale on amazon, and I love them! I wear a women's 7 shoe, and I got the small, which fit just fine. They keep my feet dry, help prevent blisters, and are very light and not bulky on my feet. I have run a half marathon in these, and they were great! Definitely recommend!

I bought a pair in a black pattern not available on Amazon from REI online for $15.95 (on which I earn a 10% dividend as a member toward future purchases) and three pair in neon green on sale from REI online for $11.99 each. I paid no shipping. The current price on Amazon with shipping ranges from $20-$24 a pair depending on the color and seller, which is way too expensive.

I've discovered that most running socks run small, including these, so if you're close to the top of a size range, size up. My street shoe size is an 8 but my running shoe size is a 9.5 or 10 depending on the manufacturer. I ordered this in a large and it fits perfectly.

These are a bit thinner than my Darn Tough ultralight merino wool blend socks and the heel is a bit lower. But the sock works fine for running. I don't have the heel slippage that some other reviews complain about.

Like other merino wool blend socks these wick moisture well and don't stink. This doesn't mean the socks won't be sweaty at all when you're done running, but it will be nothing compared to wearing cotton socks.

I took these on a 5 mile run in warm weather and they worked fine.

Bottom line: These work well for running.

I've been on the hunt for a perfect sock to wear in my sneakers that wasn't too tight or loose and doesn't fall down - these are EXCELLENT! I used to wear Puma socks, but they often ride down into my sneakers. Ugh. So annoying. I tried these on my husband's recommendation since he loves his Smartwools. I wish they weren't so expensive, but they are worth it: my husbands socks are several years old and still hold up really well. I have large lady feet, and usually find women's socks to run a little tight on me, but these are true to size. I'm a true size 9 and got the Mediums and they fit perfectly. The red color is very accurate, I've posted a pic in case it helps. Thanks for reading, hope my review helped you. Have a wonderful week!!

Have used the Smart Wool PhD Outdoors socks and thought I was getting the same sock in different colors as all of Smart Wool socks seem to be called PhD. These socks were extremely thin and did not fill up my running shoe. The material of the sock was so slick, my foot moved around in my shoe constantly and did not absorb shock. I donated the brand new socks to the Goodwill store two days after they arrived.
