Editorial Reviews

From Library Journal

Authors Doyle and Perkins, both former advertising executives, have written a book-length version of what might have been an interesting article in an airline magazine. It is the kind of article you read because it looks mildly diverting and not because you expect to learn important truths about organizational life. Sixty anonymous young, upwardly mobile corporate whizzes were interviewed to learn the secrets of their success. The simplistic advice they offer is not related to specific organizational cultures, so the reader cannot be sure that their "secrets" will work in other situations. In these days of corporate downsizing, readers are understandably interested in learning survival skills. They will learn precious few from this book.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some interesting stuff..., May 20, 2000

You will read that book very quickly and get the main points in reader friendly written book instantely. The book is nicely divided in three divisions: Managing Yourself, Managing People, and Managing the Work. Some stories are pretty good, and considering the cheap price and the few hours spend reading it, it's absolutely worth the effort.

4.0 out of 5 stars Fast Read, Good Refresher, June 26, 2000

This book reminds you of the things your grandmother taught you (or should have). Things that are all too easy to forget in the frantic climb to the top. It's a fast, friendly read and a major league bargain at this price!
