Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 With Dermaxyl Complex To Go

Pros: lightweight, evens out scars/pores, dries clear, a little goes a long way, great soft texture, not oily, mild on skin (even sensitive areas like eyes or around breakouts), holds makeup in place well, i recommend with just primer + loose powder + concealer if needed, non-scented,...

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer SPF 15 With Dermaxyl Complex To Go

Pros: lightweight, evens out scars/pores, dries clear, a little goes a long way, great soft texture, not oily, mild on skin (even sensitive areas like eyes or around breakouts), holds makeup in place well, i recommend with just primer + loose powder + concealer if needed, non-scented, soft squeeze bottle to get those last drops, convenient size bottle

Cons: feels slightly greasy on fingers (not on face), doesn't stay put on very oily skin, a little expensive

2.0 out of 5 stars Not for sensitive skin, June 2, 2011
This review is from: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer To Go 0.5 oz Original (Misc.)
The Sephora makeup artist used this on my face as a primer before applying other cosmetics. I liked the effect so much that I purchased a full sized product. I should have taken the MA's advice and sampled it first!

I'd read reviews of this product on MakeupAlley and many users said it caused them to have breakouts. Since I have rosacea/acne, this should have been a red flag. But gosh, the product looked SO AMAZING on my face, it almost acts like a spackle for the bad areas and makes your face even for the foundation. The difference between your face WITH this primer and your face WITHOUT this primer is pretty obvious. To wake up to fresh pimples was devastating.

If you tend to have sensitive skin, use the PHOTO FINISH LIGHT product instead of the original Photo Finish. After several days of trial and error to see if it wasn't the foundation instead of the primer, I found that the PHOTO FINISH LIGHT product did not cause me to break out. The original Photo Finish is a gel, the Photo Finish Light is a lotion. On shine-prone skin, the Photo Finish Light fared better than the original Photo Finish.

The MA used a foundation brush to apply the Photo Finish to my face and that's how I'd advise it to be used also. When you use a foundation brush, it only takes a tiny bit of the primer to do your whole face. If you use your fingers or a sponge, not only do you get unven application but you use a lot more product. As expensive as this product is, the foundation brush will save you money in product.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great face primer, January 26, 2010
By
I used primers for my eyes (Paul Dorf is my favorite). Accidentally, I came accross Smashbox Face primer and wanted to try it. Normally my face foundation fades away as day goes by and I wanted to test out if it lasts longer if I apply it after face primer.

This primer comes in colorless gel form. It is light and easy to apply on face. It absorbs quickly and blends in fine with face moisturizer. If I apply face powder and bronzer, it will stay without any corrections. My skin type is combination, and after using this primer, I can say that I have not noticed any issues with the T-zone on my face.

Great product.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty awesome!, November 19, 2008
This review is from: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer To Go 0.5 oz Original (Misc.)
I bought this stuff several months ago, and a little goes a long way! I find it's really useful for smoothing out my skin before putting makeup on. No matter how much I exfoliate I always seem to have little peelies on my nose, but this smooths them out so my makeup doesn't look flaky like it used to. I'm not sure why other people reviewed this so badly...It makes my skin feel smooth and my flaky skin problem has been solved!

4.0 out of 5 stars Little Bit Goes Long Way, September 11, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Don't be put off by how small this looks. A little bit really goes a long way. I've had this for quite some time and haven't exhausted even a quarter of the product.

I have VERY DRY, very fair skin: this product helps keep the foundation and concealer under my eyes nice and stable all day. It keeps the foundation from peeling, as well. While it makes the skin on my nose noticeably drier and more inclined to peel (for some reason), it does wonders for my cheeks, chin, and forehead. My foundation and mousse blush last and last all day!

While primers do tend to be drying, even my severely dry skin manages very well with this particular primer.

2.0 out of 5 stars Clogged my pores!, March 18, 2011

This review is from: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer To Go 0.5 oz Original (Misc.)
I absolutely loved the way this product looked and felt on my skin, but every time I wore it my skin would break out like crazy the next day! Removing it was difficult as well, I felt like no matter how hard I scrubbed it was never completely off. Too expensive and not worth the skin problems it causes!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good oil control, March 6, 2011

This is really good at control oil and concealing pores. It lasts all day! I don't like it for every day use though because it clogs my pores.

4.0 out of 5 stars smashbox a hit, July 18, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I really like this foundation primer. A little dab goes a long way and then your foundation goes on so smoothly. I did find the creme foundation worked better with this primer than mineral foundation powder. Good product, although a little pricey. Delivery time from Amazon took 10 days, unusually long.

3.0 out of 5 stars Great product, November 3, 2010
This review is from: Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer To Go 0.5 oz Original (Misc.)
This is a great product that glides on extremely smoothly and will make your makeup last all day. This is a small package, not for daily use, but good for special occasions, travel or testing the product.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nothing special, May 12, 2010

My smashbox primer seems to work slightly better than the primer I had previously purchased. However, I don't feel it really did much to keep my makeup on or make my skin look any better without makeup. I would suggest Pearlesque by Purple Lab available at [...]. It had been working wonderfully and I can tell a difference after I put it on. Overall, this smashbox primer did little and is not worth the money.
