5.0 out of 5 stars Pure joy..., April 23, 2010

This review is from: Smat Smat (Audio CD)
Stefano Bollani is one of the most innovative and versatile jazz pianists around today. Smat Smat is a solo effort with repertoire ranging from the Beatles to Brazilian, Prokofiev to Ginastera, Monk to Zappa, and a host of amazing original compositions. His imagination runs wild here - he runs the technical and emotional gamut, and every second is pure joy. His version of Marco Parente's "Il Mare Si E Fermato" is hauntingly and achingly beautiful. One of my favorite cds of all time!
