Tough stuff,

Despite a long career, this is only Lester Davenport's second solo cd. It is fairly standard 12 bar arrangements and the lyrics are pretty predictable but it has the feeling of deep Chicago blues and the band is terrific throughout. Two of the best guitarists in Chicago, Jimmy Dawkins and Billy Flynn are on board and each gets plenty of solo space. Davenport's harp playing is simple but effective, especially on the instrumentals "West Side Blues Harp" and "To Our Lost Ones 9/11/01.If you like lowdown Chicago blues played in the classic style than you will definitely want to check out this terrific release by the masters of the genre.

EXCELLENT ARTIST,

Lester only has two cd's both are five+ easy, get these two cd's you will be glad you did. He plays in the Chicago style, he blows a mean harp, there is also some fine guitar playing, he can also sing some great blues. His blues is classic rocking blues at it's finest, so buy these two and enjoy.
