From Booklist

Since Principessa was a baby, Papa has taken pictures of the girl, affectionately called Bina—our princess bambina—every day. But then baby brother, Pasquale, nicknamed Bino, arrives. Now no one calls Principessa Bina. Since Papa's photo taking seems all about Bino, Principessa determines not to smile for pictures anymore. When Papa announces plans to enter a photo contest for the child with the most beautiful smile, Principessa sulks, imagining Bino becoming famous Baby Bino. But with coaxing and reassurance from Mama and Papa (and an unexpectedly irresistible, fun interaction with her brother), Principessa smiles again for the camera—and Bino. In animated, descriptive prose, this insightful read captures and conveys Principessa's feelings with amusing, sympathetic, and ring-true flair that is echoed in illustrations filled with whimsical details. Especially for new sisters who've felt out of the picture, on and off camera, this is an entertaining, supportive read. Rosenfeld, Shelle

5.0 out of 5 stars Just perfect!, June 10, 2009
This review is from: Smile, Principessa! (Hardcover)
Rarely do I come across a story that so accurately portrays the inner turmoil felt by a big sister. This little princess adores her baby brother but is having a hard time giving up the limelight. In the end, she finds herself so enraptured with loving on her brother that she has no time to notice who's looking at her. All the while though, her clever parents are still making sure to snap lots of photos of their big girl, too.

The perfect book to give as a gift to that new big sis in your life.

5.0 out of 5 stars My Daughter LOVES Principessa!, September 20, 2007

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Smile, Principessa! (Hardcover)
My one-year-old daughter adores this book. Every day she digs it out of her pile of books and follows me around the room saying, "Prinshpess, Prinshpess" until I read it to her. She has her favorite pictures and loves to point them out as we reach them in the book. And, I think the lesson of how siblings can learn to enjoy each other is wonderfully and gently told. I also appreciate how Mama and Papa Razzi don't chastise Principessa for being jealous, but accept her feelings and explain that they love her and Bino equally. My daughter doesn't have a sibling yet, but when she does, I'll be delighted to have this book for her.
