3.0 out of 5 stars WARNING! Read carefully, Choose wisely, October 22, 2011
This review is from: Smiling Dog Bakery All Natural Dog Treat Recipes (Kindle Edition)
Before I get to the bad stuff about this book, let me just say it was pretty good. The instruction was clear, the ingredients thankfully common in most cases - and it was pretty fun to read. That said, I am really glad I read the sample because the first recipe in it, for the cake, calls for RAISINS! Raisins are bad for dogs. Like vomit and die bad for dogs. Why on earth the author would have listed them is beyond me.

I won't say you shouldn't get this book, but be smart with your dog and his/her health - find yourself a list of the "forbidden foods" for dog, and get to know it. Then, if you happen to read this book, refer back to the list to make sure you're not going to add something that will kill your pet.

Read carefully, choose wisely, and if there's one or two items in a recipe that are dangerous, substitute with something safe. Just please don't take the author at face vale. She may have meant well, but you should be safe, not sorry.

More About the Author

Dogs were not a part of my life as I was growing up, I was a cat person. Everything changed on day when I was visiting a local animal shelter.

I never like to visit a shelter as I feel so helpless looking at the adorable pets wanting to share their love and affection. I want to take them all home.
That morning, I walked past many dogs, some jumping up to greet me, just asking for attention and love.

Some were just sitting in the confinement of their crate and just looking sad and wondering what they did wrong to be here. One dog, called Spike, a one year old German Sheppard, and Collie mix was just sitting and did not make any movement to me.

I inquired about Spike, and was told he was given up for adoption because he ate too much and the family could not afford him.
Spike was a black and brown dog with a lot of love in his eyes. I asked to view Spike and was taken to the waiting room and anxiously awaited meeting this lovely one year old dog.

After waiting a few minutes, the door opened and in came spike. The first thing he did was jump up on the bench, where I was seated and kissed my face. He was so happy to be out of his confinement that he looked at me and said "let's, go home."

Once I saw his eyes, filled with love and questions, I had to adopt him. That was the moment that changed my life forever.

I started Smiling Dog Bakery to make all natural dog treats, dog birthday party kits and a complete line of products with the

inspiration of Spike.

I have also written other books to honor our best friends and kids with tails.

My other books include "Pampered Pooch Parties" to celebrate dog birthday parties and special occasions with our dogs and "The

Well Trained Pet Guardian" a fun look at dog training as told by your dog.
