Eventually I did purchase the 00 tip from Otte Frei which fits perfect so I could solder jump rings.

The other nice thing is that an oxygen cylinder is not needed with this setup, so you save some money there.

This torch makes enameling much easier than propane despite technique and works great on metal clay pieces.

I did a lot of research and eventually accidentally (;)) bought this set up for silver-smithing. If you look at the product details on the Smith Equipment website you will notice that exactly EVERYTHING about this torch is IDENTICAL to the SilverSmith version - model numbers and everything - except that this set up comes packaged with three of the larger tips instead of the one smaller soldering tip that the silversmith comes with. It's name-play. Pay more, get less. Even after buying this set up and the additional two smaller torches I still only paid close to what the bare-bones silversmith set up offers. AND I have 5 tips instead of just one.
As far as set up and operation goes I couldn't be more pleased! I use an MC tank with a B-adapter to save space, and while the tips are hand-tighten only a little wrenching is required to make sure the rest of the fittings are secure. and I have switched tips a couple of times already and haven't had a leak yet.
I have used the 00 tip quite a bit just in the last two days for soldering details and I am so very pleased with my results - it heats quickly and thoroughly right where I need it to. I have also melted some scrap down with the 03 tip and it just does spectacular - way better than the propane I was using prior to receiving this torch. In two days I have run about a week's worth of projects through this little guy and I would recommend it to anyone for any purpose except cutting!

This Torch was recommended to me by Lexi Erickson, master Metalsmith and jewelry designer extraordinaire. I started my path to jewelry design with wirework, which I love, but found myself wanting to add... I'm a self taught pattern wire designer , and through Lexi's articles can now say I am advanced-beginner to intermediate Metalsmith. This torch does not require separate oxygen tank so if very portable. It comes with 3 tips but you will want to order a size 0 for sure. I use the #1 for annealing small to medium pieces...and will attempt some small metal sculpture with it in the future. I am able to to do anything from annealing to melting my ends and bad pieces in a crucible. This torch makes enameling much easier than propane despite technique and works great on metal clay pieces. So if you are just starting with soldering or just need something more than handheld torch - this is all you need.

This was a present for my daughter in San francisco, her two degrees from Uni were obviously not good enough for her, so she has decided to make Jewellery from smoothed glass she picks up from the beach.

She gave me the link for the welding equipment, I was a bit worried as it was in dollars, but Amazon did all the conversion for me.

My daughter is very pleased with the product, and the delivery company.

I spent over 6 months examining which to purchase. Two people recommended these, both instructors. I finally got tired of trying to figure out what was the right one. I just went ahead and purchased this one. I love it! The hose is nice and long when I need it, the tips are perfect and I didn't need to go out and purchase any others. Eventually I did purchase the 00 tip from Otte Frei which fits perfect so I could solder jump rings. I highly recommend this. The meters are large and easy to read. It was easy to connect and understand.

This unit is light weight and has a good flame. Several size tips to choose from. What is nice is the tips slip and out very easily. Also, you set the pressure to or about 7 pounds and then turn it on all the way. No adjustments required. For new people this feature is very helpful. Highly recommended.
