StuffIt goes beyond basic file compression with ArchiveSearch and StuffIt Express Personal Edition.
ArchiveSearch simplifies the search process by scanning every archive to find what the user is looking for. It searches the contents of both Zip and StuffIt archives, regardless of what application created them. Can't remember the filename? ArchiveSearch offers a variety of parameters to help narrow the search. Once found, it can be accessed without expanding the archive, saving time and space.
New StuffIt Express Personal Edition lets you create customized drop box applications that can automate all file compressions and transfer tasks. For example, you can easily create a drop box that Zips a file, uploads it to a password-protected FTP server, and then distributes an e-mail message notifying people that the file has been updated and posted. To make it all happen, just drag and drop the file into the Express box. StuffIt Express requires no knowledge of programming or scripting, and with its easy-to-use wizards, you can create custom drop box applications in minutes.

StuffIt's a great product, read the computer magazine reviews to see why they think so too, and its pretty much the only PC compressor that opens PC, Mac and Linux files too, and the easiest to use once you *unlearn* the klugie way you've been trained to compress or expand files on Windows over the years with other products, its like unlearning an old golf swing. Why didn't someone think of drag and drop compression and expanding before this? StuffIt handles nearly any format right on the Windows desktop, you get encryption with it, you can make self expanding archives at no extra cost, plus you get the very cool StuffIt Express program with it to automate other file related tasks too, so you don't have to do the same thing over and over again (like making the same mistake), and you just can't beat the price either. Bottom line, if you get files from folks on other platforms or want to do it the easy way, StuffIt is the only one to get, period.

Excellent utility to expand and compress all in one!,

This extract and compress program is an excellent choice. I have used since 5.0 and the upgrade makes it better. You are able to right click on any compressed file and extract with any or all options that you want. It works everytime and with alot more ease than that other popular zip program.

This program is very bad. It is slow, doesn't support a large amount of different file types. Very limiled options. If you want to compress files get something worth while and is well known like winzip or my favorite Winace
