Bluegrass Banjo at its BEST!!, September 17, 2004

I first saw Steve perform with Ralph Stanley & The Clinch Mountain Boys at a bluegrass festival in Ohio in '97. I was so impressed with his playing that I looked him up after the show (No backstage passes required in BLUEGRASS!). We talked for about 10 minutes and I purchased this CD from him even though it left me with just enough cash to get home. I found Steve to be as good a person as he is a banjo player. He was tickled to talk with me and when I bought the CD and asked him to autograph it he acted as if it was more of an honor for him than me. The Cd consists of 12 banjo driven instrumentals (three of Steve's originals, a half a dozen that were either written or popularized by Steve's mentor Ralph Stanley and a couple of traditional tunes). The Clinch Mountain Boys and Dr. Ralph provide support. It is strictly banjo and quite short in playing time, but worth every penny if you can find it.
