I bought this for hunting in the fall. The ax is a just in case but the knifve is gonna get some good use. My friend has this set and I've used it a bit, that's why I bought this set. So far I'm impressed. They came sharp with a good edge that lasts.

Great Set!,
This review is from: Smith & Wesson CH629 Bullseye Combo Pack with 1- CH200 and 1- Ch100 (Sports)
I got this set for this past hunting season and it worked beautifully! The hatchet worked fantastic. Ended up having to cut through a 8 inch fallen tree to get a moose out of the bush and it took no time at all and it was still very sharp afterwards! The knife worked well, except the gut hook on it wasn't very sharp. The sheath doesn't hold the knife very well unless extremely tight and at the right angle. Overall though I am very happy with the product, it's light, sharp (at least mine was) and very functional. The hand grip is very comfortable as well. Looking into getting the S&W three piece knife set as well.

Great for Field Dressing Deer,

Reasons NOT 5 Star:
1) Factory knife edge not great, still after sharpening, it's fine 2) The sheath "works" but not well What is GREAT for...field dressing deer. For this price I really don't think it gets any better... HATCHET: It's a very thin design. When used with a hammer, going through bone is a simple task with a few "easy" knocks. The Handle makes for easy gripping even when wet. THAT being said, I read another review where someone purchased this to chop firewood - THIS IS NOT THE TOOL FOR WOOD CHOPPING. KNIFE: As stated above, the factory edge is OK at best, and it will require sharpening. It seems to hold a decent edge though and with the same handle design of the hatchet, it's easy to hold on to. The gut hook works fine, but it's not perfect. OVERALL: I'm very pleased, I can't complain with it costing me ~$25.
