Great Value for the $$,

I guarantee that this will be the best [...] that you will ever spend for a knife. And compared to others of this level, I would expect to pay triple the price. The blade comes sharp as a razor out of the box and stays that way. I use it and abuse it, give it a few licks with the included sharpening stone, then I'm back in business. I never go hiking without it and it can easily take down small trees, tree limbs, cut cording, rope, dig a hole, whatever you need done, it can do it. Hands down, no questions asked. I am never afraid to use this thing. I've paid 3 times more for half the quality. And the sheath is actually quality. So buy it!
Check out [...] to see it in action

Awesome Practical Knife....And Price,

This review is from: Smith & Wesson CKSUR1 Bullseye Search and Rescue Fixed Blade Knife (Sports)
I bought this very same knife at a sporting goods store here some time back. First of all I have to say I like the size of it, (10 1/2 inches). Its been my experience that too many people go out of their way to buy a hunting or survival knife that is way too big for their needs. Unless you are planning to become the next Jeremiah Johnson you don't need anything as heavy and ungainly as a 15" or bigger knife. Its also been my experience that something smaller comes in far more handy, as well as more efficient in a true crisis situation as well. This knife is large enough to use as a real tool and weapon, without being a liability for most of the same purposes. It is very solidly built with what appears to be a full tang (the blade goes all the way through the handle) design, as well as a very comfortable grip. The blade was sharp when purchased and can be honed to a fine shaving worthy edge when necessary. The blade is also powder finished, meaning it doesn't carry the high gloss look of most other blades available. This has tended to turn some people off in reviews of other knives I have read here, but it shouldn't. A shiny finish on a knife may look really cool when its new. But over time, (if you're one to actually use a knife rather than just wear it to look tough) a glossy finish takes a beating not just during regular use, but from normal sharpening as well. Owning a functional knife that has a high gloss blade is something like owning a black car. They look really awesome when spankin' new, until they get dinged and scratched. Then they look like hell, and every little imperfection becomes quite noticeable. I think if you are one to be considering this knife for any real use, you will come to really like the matte finish over time very much. Finally, a knives sheath is something that usually doesn't get all that much attention in most reviews. Most sheaths are comfortable and adequate. But my own experience over time has been that most also wear out, crack, break, etc, and need replacing many times before the actual knife has seen better days. This knifes sheath is definately an exception. It is reinforced with steel and has a hard inner liner that will see it last for many years. It also uses a Velcro loop at the top to hold the knife straight rather than a snap. This allows the owner to leave it loose or tight to one's personal taste. And it will last longer than a cheap strip of rawhide like so many other knives carry as well. If you're considering a true piece of tough hardware in a knife that will take years of sharpening and use without fail, I highly recommend the Smith and Wesson Bullseye. I have seen knives that cost three times as much that don't carry the same quality...

Just received the S&W knife today. Checked it out and compared it to other knives I own, some costing five times as much, and I will say that this is a real bargain. It has good balance, very decent sharpness right out of the box, and I improved on that a bit with a good stone. The scabbard is of very good quality with a Velcro fastener that goes over the handle. The scabbard has a metal top plate and it fits the knife precisely. It looks and feels like a knife that would cost at least $60.00, so I'm happy.

Note that as other reviewers have pointed out, the product picture that Amazon has for this item is not accurate. The correct picture for this item is the product picture for the Smith and Wesson CKSUR2 with a slight curve to the blade's cutting edge.
I bought this knife in October of 2010, and I have been very impressed with its performance and durability. My only complaint has been the slight wobble between the knife tang and top of the handle/hand guard (mentioned in other reviews), but honestly this has not affected the performance of the knife one bit and is only an annoyance when holding the knife loosely and shaking it. The blade is right around 1/8 of an inch thick nearest to the guard, making it very rigid and perfect for digging. This also contributes to giving the blade a sufficient amount of mass for chopping down saplings or knocking off branches around an inch in diameter with a single swing. The last 1.5 inches on the back of the blade closest to the point have a semi-sharpened edge that I find perfect for scraping dirt and debris off of flat metal surfaces. The handle of the knife is made of a durable, weather-proof, rubberized material that is comfortable and easy to grip in any conditions. No complaints. The pommel is flat and seems fairly strong, I have used it to pound in light nails, and for bending over sharp wire ends. The tang extends through the pommel, ending flush with the pommel surface, at which point it is somewhere around 1/4 inch wide and 1/8 inch thick. The sheath that comes with the knife is very well made, consisting of a durable plastic interior wrapped with nylon and riveted all the way through. There is a useful velcro pocket on the outside which can hold the included (although somewhat crude) sharpening stone, or other crucial items like waterproof matches, tinder and/or a magnesium bar. The sheath is designed with many slots and straps, allowing it to be attached in numerous ways, although I will say that the loop designed for hanging from a standard belt is barely large enough to accommodate my 1-3/8 inch wide leather belt. I need to roll the end of the belt a bit to actually get it to pass through the loop initially, but it does fit. This knife is very tough, and really is a great choice for the Amazon price tag. I work out in the woods in the northern midwest setting and checking trap lines, and this knife has been through some rough weather hacking through brush and saplings, digging shallow holes, cutting rope, pounding small nails, etc, while still maintaining a respectable edge. It sharpens easily enough and rides very well against the leg.

This knife is a great deal at the price I paid. I have 2 Ka-Bar knives, and I love them. I don't love the price. I was looking for something that would give me the same style without feeling bad if the knife ended up well worn. This is it!! I was surprised by the quality of all aspects. The sheath is as good as other reviewers say. The sharpening stone does what is expected and sharpens. The knife is attractive with the black powder coating. The blade was not the sharpest upon arrival, but was easily sharpened to my liking. I have now put the knife through the ringer, and it has taken it like a champ. I will probably buy a couple of these as presents for some of my friends as I can't imagine anyone not being happy with this knife.

I read a million reviews before i bought this and finally decided to purchase it. NO REGRETS!! My buddies and i go backpacking a couple days at a time and this knife has been an amazing fit for me. I didn't want Paul Bunyons 13 foot knife that everyone's carrying around all the time but i didn't want a little fold out "Hello Kitty" knife either. This knife is perfect, fits my hand perfect, balance is flawless, blade sharpens razor sharp, it's very light weight without sacrificing quality. Perfect for just backwoodsing for a week or two. Even though it might sound dumb i love the sheath almost as much as the knife! i was really worried it would be like those stupid sheath's that are made out of paper cloth that you get with knifes at walmart, but this sheath is top notch. Hard plastic casing on the inside and screws through the nylon to hold everything together. It is fantastic, feels like the quality you'd expect with a knife like this. i couldn't be happier, i would trust this knife on any of my upcoming trips.

I searched for a very long time for a good solid knife that I can use for survival in the field if need be. I really wanted the ka-bar, more because it is what I had in the Marines and wanted another one. Unfortunately, I couldn't really afford it so I kept looking. I came upon this knife along the the S&W boot knife for a great price. What I received seems to be of great quality, sharp and the weight is good. the knife feels very solid and I would recommend it. It's inexpensive and will do the job when needed. It's sharp looking but it isn't meant to be for show. It's a survival/combat knife and is worth every cent.Smith & Wesson CKSUR1 Bullseye Search and Rescue 10.5" Fixed Blade Powder Coat

If your looking for a nice knife at a nice price, this is the knife for you. For about $20, I think it is well worth your money. The knife itself feels good in the hand. It has just enough weight that it feels really light but not too light that is would be hard to use. It came razor sharp out of the box in my case. The blade is a good length and the coat is nice. The blade coating is sort of textured; it doesn't seem painted on, more like powder coated. The Smith and Wesson logo, name, and the words Search and Rescue are etched onto the blade.
The sheath that this knife comes with seems to be worth $20 by itself. It is the best fixed blade sheath I have ever had. It's not one of those flimsy cloth sheaths that you would expect with a cheap knife. It has a harder plastic backing that is covered in cloth. The knife fits nice and snug and could easily be secured upside down. It has a main loop for normal upright belt carry. It also has loops for horizontal belt carry and a ring at the top that can be attached with a carabiner or a rope. Although you don't need it, there is a Velcro loop to secure the blade in the sheath. On top of the blade part, there is pouch which comes with a Smith and Wesson whetstone in it. Overall it is a very nice knife at a very low price.

I was very pleased when this knife arrived, the picture doesn't do it justice you really must see to appreciate!Very sturdy knife and the heavy duty nylon sheath is constructed with a hard synthetic liner and metal reinforcements. The sheath also includes a D ring, lashing slots, and a front mounted nylon storage pouch with Velcro closure (the sharpening stone came in there but i put my fire starter in it). and they left out the MOLLE mounting on back of scabbard.
