Product Description

This tactical stylus/pen allows you to select, sketch, draw, take notes, and express yourself creatively on most touch screen devices, yet can still be used as a normal pen. The cap can be screwed onto the opposite end of the pen for easy storage.

Customer Reviews

I don't need a tactical pen but just love the look of it!
M. Letendre
When you remove the cap, you can screw it on the threaded back so as to not lose it.
John Castillo
It's a great quality pen, feels sturdy in my hand and writes well enough.

This is my 6th tactical pen and the 4th S&W one I own (2 Military & Police and 1 basic 2nd Generation Tactical Pen).

Comfortable to write with as a pen, and as with my previous S&W's the fit and finish are excellent. It is slimmer and shorter than the others, but the striking tip is quite aggressive. An rubber O-ring helps keep the cap in place when used as a stylus. It's thicker than most styluses and will probably not fit in most stylus loops on pads or e-reader cases. Not a big issue for me as I intend to carry it in a shirt pocket, but it might be for some buyers. I really like that I can have a combo stylus/pen when I'm reading (even e-books) as I often take written notes.

I still wish S&W would stop putting their name on the clips, and I'd really like to see a stainless steel version instead of just aluminum, but overall this is a fine product. One minor annoyance as to the construction: The stylus end of the pen that also covers the pen tip is made of either plastic or very thin aluminum. The cap of their Military & Police models is much more solid. A tactical pen should be solid metal, or at the very least use considerably heavier construction. The tip has a lot of air inside which could have been used for thicker walls and sturdier construction (plus a little extra weight). In an emergency there is no telling which end one might strike an assailant with, and my bet is that the stylus end would break on the first solid blow, leaving you with a weapon 20% shorter.

i have a whole bunch of Tactical Pens, this is the first i can use as a touchpen as well and eliminates the extra stylus !
great idea, love the design and the very compact size, it even writes good so why only three stars ?
The Touchpen tip is ( in my case ) covered with a thin layer of " i-do-not-excactly-know" what silicon(?) which made the use of the pen very easy, moved over the screen with ease and no scrubbing or hangers !
This layer is gone, not even a week it took, still good for writing but moving from page to page or flipping quick through some pic/ files is tricky as in that the pens hangs on to the screen and doesn`t move smooth anymore !
Would have been perfect otherwise !

I use this pen every day! I am constantly going back and forth between my iPad and paper writing throughout the day, and this pen is the best I've come across so far. I like that the stylus tip is replaceable, one of my previous pen-styluses tore and I had to throw it out. I am mixed about the screw-off cap. On one hand, I don't have to worry about the cap flying off on me when I make a gesture with it in my hand. On the other, it becomes a little annoying to in-screw the cap every time I have to pull it back out to write. I think a twisting pen would be the ideal option. My only other complaint is that it is hard to find high quality rollerball or gel pen refills to fit. It uses the Parker ballpoint pen size refills, which are fine, but the only gel ink fills I've found tend to run dry incredibly fast.

Why did I buy this? Because it had the word 'Tactical' on it! Now I can write tactical letters and sign tactical checks with my awesome tactical pen! Oh yeah, it also works on my tactical ipad!

S&W Tactical Stylus Pen. 5 1/2" overall. Grooved black finish T6061 aircraft aluminum construction with black finish pocket clip. One end is pointed which could be used as a very effective defense tool. Other end is a soft stylus which can be used on most touch screen devices including iPad, Droid smart phone, Kindle eReader, etc. Unscrew the stylus cap to expose writing tip. Black ink. The cap can be screwed onto the opposite end of the pen for easy storage. Weight 1.2 oz.

There is little point, I found, purchasing a pen of such tough construction paired with a stylus that will fall apart within days. The rubber tip of the stylus quickly began to wear out from use, eventually leaving streaks on my screen, then fell off and became lost after a few days of routine carrying. I still love the pen. Buy a Smith and Wesson pen without the stylus, and get a decent stylus separately.

I've longed for a last-ditch defensive tool as well as a convenient and practical way of keeping a stylus on my person for phone and tablet use in the event that my fingertips were not readily available (seasonal or work gloves, mess, etc). I was opposed to simply hauling a stylus around, as I typically avoid tools or accessories that only provide one purpose, especially if I'm going to have to deal with it being in my pocket all day, every day. This tactical pen was my solution. I did my diligent research and was torn between two and ultimately chose the S&W due to glowing reviews, features and obvious quality of their products based on personal experience. I've now carried this tool around for a week and have found it incredibly useful even in that short amount of time. Build quality seems top-notch and the threads for the cap seem very solid and unlikely to fail without extreme negligence on the user's part. Weight is certainly tolerable, comfort/fit is very nice, deployment time is good if placed appropriately and the all-aluminum body provides peace of mind, knowing you don't have to worry about plastic pieces failing you after repeated wear and tear. Highly recommended.
