The name comes from the fact that it is made to be carried push clipped in a pocket or lanyard clipped to a "D" ring so it is not loose in your pocket and does not wear your pocket out. It is a quality knife, well designed, small enough to use for delicate work, that can be opened or closed with one hand so that when you discover you need the knife, you can hold your work in one hand (so you don't have things get out of alignment, out of position or etc.) while you deploy the knife. Holds an edge well. When it begins to get a little dull, it can be quickly be restored with a few strokes on a ceramic sharpener such as the Smith's PP1 Pocket Pal Multifunction Sharpener (Found ON AMAZON).
