Wigglesworth is too deep for modern Christianity,
By Paul West "Pablo" (San Marcos, Texas) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Smith Wigglesworth: The Complete Collection of His Life Teachings (Hardcover)
This is a huge book. This book is said to contain the complete lifetime teachings of British evangelist Smith Wigglesworth. It is a gem, a treasure, a vast storehouse of Holy Ghost wisdom and glory. Just reading the words of Wigglesworth is enough to give you an idea of what kind of anointing this man of God had.
I've heard stories of Wigglesworth meetings back in the 20's and 30's where the power of God would fall so heavily that clergymen and pastors would fall out of their chairs when Smith prayed. There is an account of Wigglesworth raising a man from the dead, embalmed and in a casket at a funeral home. When someone like that preaches Jesus and has a teaching from the Word of God, you can bet I want to listen! This book is full of his teachings. Obviously, the teachings are deep and center around complete surrender to the Holy Ghost. Brokeness and holiness are two other factors continually mentioned. The more you read this stuff, the more you realize just how infatuated, possessed, and full of faith this simple man was. He was totally unschooled growing up, not learning how to read until he was in his late 20's! The only book he ever read was the Bible. He drove out demons in the name of Jesus of Nazareth, healed the sick, raised the dead, spoke in tongues, opened blind eyes, unstopped deaf ears. He was a real, modern apostle (and without going to seminary school). This is how God would like to use all of us, but like Smith Wigglesworth would always say, "There is a great price to pay..." Wigglesworth took God blindly at His Word. No wonder he is now known as the "Apostle of Faith" -- and the great pioneer of the pentecostal faith. Buy the book (it is really for mature Christians) and read the messages slowly. And do some research on his life; it is really fascinating to read how this guy lived the book of Acts. He even raised his wife from the dead (but let her go back when she said Jesus was calling her). This stuff is really too deep for the average Christian to digest fully (especially for those primarily fed from Newsboys songs and Michael W. Smith worship). This is a whole other level of serving God. Can you handle it?

This collection of sermons has become part of my daily devotions. Wigglesworth has a unique gift for illuminating Jesus. The lessons and stories are saturated with the annointing of the Holy One and will enliven your faith, quicken your spirit, and increase your hunger and thirst for the things of God. This is must reading for every child of the Lord who wants an "ever-increasing faith"!!

Most Anointed Book Next to the Holy Bible,
By Colin (An English Missionary in Asia) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Smith Wigglesworth: The Complete Collection of His Life Teachings (Hardcover)
"If I had to choose just two books to own, I'd have the Holy Bible and this collection of Smith Wigglesworth sermons. Smith was an unexceptional Yorkshire plumber who was saved as a boy, and grew into a stout-hearted Christian. But after receiving the Baptism in the Holy Spirit in the 1907 Sunderland revival, at the age of 48, the Lord transformed Wigglesworth into England's greatest evangelist. For the next 40 years, Jesus' ministry and power flowed through Smith, healing, delivering and saving countless souls around the world. His life practically became a continuation of the Acts of the Apostles, with at least a dozen people raised from the dead, and all manner of sickness healed. His electrifying preaching was taken down in short-hand, and carries the most powerful anointing of anything I've read outside of the Bible. His sermons and teachings are still reaping results today in ever-increasing measure. When you read them, you'll understand why. There's no 'side' to Wigglesworth, no show, just the Living Christ and Holy Spirit working through a yeilded servant. He truly deserves the accolade, 'Apostle of faith', but like all genuine Holy Ghost preachers, his message is Christ, and leaves his hearers healed, saved, and hungry for righteousness. The Lord confirming His Word with signs miracles and wonders. Our Risen Christ.
