About the Author

Smith Wigglesworth (1859–1947) was born in England in 1859. Immediately after his conversion as a boy, he had a concern for the salvation of others and won people to Christ, including his mother. He became a plumber by trade, yet he continued to devote himself to winning many people to Christ on an individual basis. In 1882, he married Polly Featherstone, a vivacious young woman who loved God and had a gift of preaching and evangelism. It was she who taught him to read and who became his closest confidant and strongest supporter. They both had compassion for the poor and needy in their community, and they opened a mission, at which Polly preached. Significantly, people were miraculously healed when Wigglesworth prayed for them.

In 1907, Wigglesworth's circumstances changed dramatically when, at the age of forty–eight, he was baptized in the Holy Spirit. Suddenly, he had a new power that enabled him to preach, and even his wife was amazed at the transformation. This was the beginning of what became a worldwide evangelistic and healing ministry that reached thousands. He eventually ministered in the United States, Australia, South Africa, and all over Europe. His ministry extended to the time of his death in 1947.

Smith Wigglesworth is one of the great preachers of early 20th century Pentecostalism. His books on the Holy Spirit and on spiritual gifts are classic works that remain unsurpassed in Pentecostal theology. There are very few modern works that explain spiritual gifts from a Pentecostal perspective and none that explain them anywhere near as well as this Pentecostal icon. Smith Wigglesworth on Spiritual Gifts is a must for any Pentecostal library.

very easy to understand, this book kept calling me back, to completion. It answered so many questions brought up by ministers and the Bible. Mr. Wigglesworth, a great man of faith, 8th grade education, but used mightily of the Lord.

What an incredible book, such faith that you can't find today.

Answers the question, Can God use me in my late 30's? Every page you have to stop and just praise God for his great mercy and compassion.

There are very few books that I've read in a single sitting. This is one of those few. As someone who has an interest in academic theology and Biblical studies, it seems strange that I would count a book like this among my favorites, but Smith Wigglesworth on Spiritual Gifts changed my life for the better. Wigglesworth was an extremist by most people's (even Christians') standards, yet he was amazingly balanced in his view on the gifts of the Spirit. His reverence for God and desire for the body of Christ's edification is evident on every page of this book. I highly recommend this to zealous Charismatics and skeptical non-Charismatics alike. What it lacks in scholarship it more than makes up for in spirit.

I enjoyed that Wigglesworth is so full of The Spirit. His steadfast love for His Lord is very evident throughout the book. As I read, I was constantly praying, "Lord please allow me to be filled with Your Spirit as he is". I would recommend this book to anyone who truly hungers for more of Jesus.
