Smith's DBSC 6", Coarse / 325 grit Diamond Bench Stone is a quick cutting general purpose sharpening stone that will be appreciated by woodworkers, culinary enthusiasts, hunters, fisherman and craftsmen. Monocrystalline diamond on a unique interrupted surface speeds abrasive action and remains clear and efficient. A "Micro Tool Sharpening Pad" allows for sharpening very small cutting edges and knife points. The stable 2-1/2" width stone is held in a non-skid base that includes a snap-on clear storage lid. This stone cuts well and fast, but it is not flat along the long axis. There is a quite pronounced dip in the middle.

The coarse stone will quickly reshape a really dull knife. In combination with the fine stone, puts a razor edge on all my knives very quickly.

I'm not sure I would put my filet knife on this unless it was extremely dinged up but this stone makes quick work of knicks etc or badly blunted blades.

I first used it my neglected ax head and the stone prepped the edge for finer sharpening with just a few strokes. It also cleaned up the edge on an old beat up chisel that is now extremely sharp.

The instructions say not to use any petroleum based lubricants with the stone.

It's a welcome addition to my shop.
