This stone cuts well and fast, but it is not flat along the long axis. There is a quite pronounced dip in the middle.

The coarse stone will quickly reshape a really dull knife. In combination with the fine stone, puts a razor edge on all my knives very quickly.

I'm not sure I would put my filet knife on this unless it was extremely dinged up but this stone makes quick work of knicks etc or badly blunted blades.

I first used it my neglected ax head and the stone prepped the edge for finer sharpening with just a few strokes. It also cleaned up the edge on an old beat up chisel that is now extremely sharp.

The instructions say not to use any petroleum based lubricants with the stone.

It's a welcome addition to my shop.

Will sharpen knives quickly. I use a more fine stone to hone to a razor sharp edge Great price too but will have to give it time to see how long it will last

I am impressed with the quality and function of these blocks. I bought a coarse and a fine and did my first blade this week........ excellent! Only use water for the lubricant and it does a great job. If I could, I would have paid a little bit more and bought them about 2 to 3 inches longer in length.... still, very good for the money paid!
