I ordered these canisters and they arrived damaged. One lid had dents and peeling paint. Also two were an obviously different color than the third. Even if they were not damaged not sure they were worth the money. From a distance they look high end but up close they are obviously not.
So now here comes the bad part. The customer service with Smithsonian store is AWFUL. I sent two emails to the seller, and After a nearly a week I finally got an email through amazon that my credit card was being refunded and "there was no need to return the defective item". I was surprised but was not my decision. I threw away the packaging and put them on the counter since I was notified in writing not to return the item.
A week later I get a call from Fedex who is at my door to pick the package up. No notice, no call or email as such. When I call smithsonian the representative is rude and when I express how frustrated I am she treats me like a criminal. Oh by the way did I mention you are responsible for return shipping even if the items is damaged!!! Long story short I have reported them to amazon. I wasted two hours of my time, Fedex woke up my husband who works nights, and I have damaged canisters. Read seller profile carefully before buying!

Canisters are beautiful, but the openings are quite small if you are trying to use a cup to dip out the flour. That canister seemed to have the smallest opening/

Beautiful Canisters! October 25, 2011

These were purchased for a housewarming gift and I literally got them an hour before the party. Unwrapped and still in box, I was hoping they would be nice and they were. Very nice quality and prettier than the picture.
