Best bug book yet,
By Norway Mom (Oslo area) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Smithsonian: Bug Hunter (DK Smithsonian Nature Activity Guides) (Paperback)
I read this book aloud to my tween sons, a few pages every night. We learned quite a bit, even though we've read other books on the subject. I only wish we had read this book in the summer (bug season), so we could get started with the exciting activities and experiments right away. Each page has exciting pictures, and the amount of text per page is good for reluctant or time-pressed readers. The only drawback about the book is the frequent words of warning (for example, "always ask an adult for help when using sharp scissors"). It seemed more a way to avoid lawsuits than to give actual useful information, and my tween boys felt like they were being treated like babies. |
