This is made in China and is not a true 2 inches in the top to bottom dimension. It measures at 2.125 and WILL NOT fit in the 2" receiver of my 2012 Toyota 4runner. I returned this for an exchange and the second one is exactly the same. I considered grinding it down, but after reading another reviewers experience with this process, I will return it for a refund and stay clear of Smittybilt products.

The pictures show a smooth, machine-like product. It is cast and ground, poorly at that. To Amazon's credit, they made returning the first one easy. Unfortunately, I'll be taking advantage of that service again.

I never write reviews, but I am compelled to login and share my experience. The product looks great out of the box, powder coated black, but the experience goes downhill from there. It did not fit in my 2000 Toyota Tacoma 2' tow hitch receiver. When I 'eyeballed the edges like a 2X4' each "flat" side of the hitch was like 'hills and valleys' of metal. I had to spend 45 minutes with a metal hand grinder to flatten them out. So, after that nonsense I slide the hitch in and the holes 'just don't line up enough' for the standard hitch pin I bought. I whip out the old hand drill with a wire brush bit and spend another 20 minutes going back and forth on the inside to remove the powder coat and create a bit more wiggle room. Suffice to say, I got this thing to fit! However, now I have a 'half black half oddly ground silver tow hitch' thanks to crappy manufacturing. Never buying smittybuilt again.

This is both the 2 inch hitch and the D-ring. Hitch is built solid and is painted a sleek black. Great product that feels very solid.

Out of the box it looked fine except for the cast iron shaft. instead of it being square it looked like a stretched out hexagon (sloppy cast work). I tried beating it in with a hammer, but it would only go about an inch. So I powered up the bench grinder and took about a 1/4 inch off the top and bottom. After smoothing out the edges nice and square, I test fit the shaft and put a couple thick rattle can coats of Rustoleum black on it and let it hang dry. Fits nice and snug now. Not a wiggle. Good product if you're a little board and feel like doing some weekend rigging.

I bought this instead of the Warn receiver shackle because it was a lower price. It is a very substantial piece of metal, and definitely made to last. I'm glad I saved a few bucks buying this because it's just like the Warn and will get the job done.

This is a SOLID peice of equipment... I bought this product for my 2006 Tacoma and I ended up using it to pull out several stuck vehicles over the recent snow storm we had. Solidily built but lighter than my other tow point.

I'd recommed this for anyone who likes off-roading and needs a quick alternative to welding tow points to the rear of your vehicle.

Tried to use this on my Class V 12,000 pound hitch, but the cast iron shank is too short to reach the hitch pin hole! It missed by only about 3/8", close but no cigar. It will probably work on the lighter duty hitches no problem, seems no one else has complained about this problem so far. The D-ring hits the mouth of the receiver before the shank can reach the hitch pin hole. The hole is already as far back as it can be without adding material, there is less than 1/2" of cast iron behind the hitch pin hole already, so modification is out of the question. I just took the D-ring off and put it in one of my drop hitches, in place of the hitch ball instead.

A few comments about the loose fit, I think I would like that personally, if you've ever dealt with a rusted in place hitch adapter, you'll know exactly what I mean. Probably the best idea is just don't leave stuff in your hitch when not in use, it only takes about 3 seconds to put it in place. No rust, no rattles. If you must leave it in, I'd just wrap it with some wadding material to keep the rattles at bay, better than dealing with a rust-stuck hitch that fits a little -too- snugly if you know what I mean.

They use road salt up here in the winter, so this explains my anti-rust bias!

Didn't fit in any of the 2 inch hitches I tried. Not just mine but also I tried in a bunch of other trucks around the parking lot of my building. This thing plain won't fit into any of them! Total junk!
