Book Description

CONSPIRACY+Suspicious Deaths+Terrorists+Spies

Ever Wanted To Know The Truth?

A conspiracy thriller about a multi-national journalist Chloe Moreau who is drawn into a terrorist plot, while investigating the mysterious deaths of the bioweaponeers. It covers the globe with modern power blocks and old cold-war tensions all in play.

Not a tale of super-heroes. The characters are believable, strong and weak, smart and mistaken.

˃˃˃ Smoke and Mirrors - The Suspicious Deaths of the Bioweaponeers

Being mugged by a spook, if you’re a journalist, is a good sign your story is more about the sinister truth and less mad conspiracy. International journalist Chloe Moreau is drawn into the intelligence world where secret services collaborate as well as compete for information.

It isn’t only her investigation that is worrying the intelligence community, her husband has links with an Al Qaeda money-laundering project, and could be the terrorist they are looking for. Chloe needs information from MI5 and they need her help to bring down the terrorist plot.

Can Chloe get the proof she needs to publish her findings? And can MI5 prevent the imminent terrorist attack on England?

"I really enjoyed this book! It was not a book to read before going to bed! I would start it when I finally had time at night to read and it would keep me up at night! It is sooo suspenseful and detailed that I couldn't put it down. I would stay up until the wee hours and then feel sleepy all the next day! Needless to say, I stopped reading it at bedtime!"

"An interesting theme with complex plotting."

"The difficulties of writing a torture scene ”" with the delicate balance between understatement and overstatement ”" should not be underestimated. However, Harris has risen to the challenge admirably."

"The drama in the spine of the overall story does convey a wonderful milieu of menace and unease. There is plenty for the reader to do, and that is always a good indication of the writer’s engagement with the subject."

"Difficult to know where the truth ends and the story begins - it's so believable."

About the Author

C R Harris has worked in business and finance in Europe and the USA, making industry-leading programmes on ethical selling in the financial services sector, and contributing to consultancy projects in two of the four major UK banks, as well as key players in the insurance industry. Her management development clients have also included biological and chemical research organisations, and government departments. Harris would tell you about some of the more interesting events, if they weren’t covered by the Official Secrets Act. But these experiences bring authenticity to fiction. Chris is enjoying the move to a more rewarding life experience and has an MA in Creative Writing from Bath Spa University in England. “I like to write stories that make you question your current view of the world and what you believe to be true.”

5.0 out of 5 stars A fun read! October 16, 2013

This is a great book, and quite fun to read. The plot is certainly plausible in this day and age and the characters are very believable. The story flows well, and I love the how the characters travel throughout Europe. I got a great feel for where they were and loved the interaction between them. The storyline works well and by the end it was hard to put it down.
I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys spy novels, suspense novels, and the like.

5.0 out of 5 stars Smoke and Mirrors November 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
An interesting approach to the spy genre that you would think had been written about enough, but I suppose that the fact that the main characters were not Americans per se made it different enough. As a fan of most things British (except the food) I enjoyed the geographical locations and the continent hopping. I would recommend this book to those of my associates who enjoy the spy and intrigue. I love the thought of Ml5 they seem so different from our agencies, maybe it's just the way they are so "English". And not to forget the French (who's food I do like mostly)

Great suspense and intrigue. The visuals provided make you feel as if you are there in every suspenseful moment as Chloe seeks to uncover a threat so close to our world condition today. All the while struggling to stay alive herself.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great yarn September 22, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a story about a multi-national journalist who becomes drawn into a terrorist plot. It covers the globe with modern power blocks and old cold-war tensions all in play. The tension steadily builds to a dramatic scrambling climax to avoid disaster. This is not a tale of super-heroes. The characters are believable, both strong and weak, smart and mistaken. After about 1/4 of the book, I was hooked and had to finish the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Authentic and Suspenseful March 21, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This book is well-written and seems very authentic - though it is fictional, it is clear that the author knows a lot about the types of people, situations, and locations that she writes about. The writing is very clear and vivid, and the plot is very mysterious and suspenseful. The author does a great job of making the action scenes actually exciting - not an easy task to do with a novel.

If you like books by Tom Clancy, Dan Brown, or if you enjoy fast-pased page-turners, you won't regret reading this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Chilling thiller! April 10, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A highly thought-provoking book that held my interest from the beginning to the end! A fascinating blend of Intelligence Services, weapons of mass destruction of all kinds and investigative journalism. One feels very familiar with the distinctly etched characters that one empathizes with them, particularly Chloe and Louise.
The reader is so apprehensive about the movements and consequences of the actions of the principal characters that at times lengthy descriptions seem to come in the way of the progress of the story. Had to hold my breath and fight my angst at several points in the book. A thoroughly enjoyable book.
I am looking forward to reading more books by this author. Thank you, C.R. Harris.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bioweaponeers... March 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Anyone who likes to read about doomsday scenarios and murder would like this book, I think. It was a fun read, not too long, but longer than a lot of the reads out there right now....Some serious things to think about, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars This could happen!
Scary to think this could really happen! I think that's what makes this novel so interesting. Editing could have been better, however, it didn't detract from the story.
