Smokey and the Bandit soundtrack cassette tape,

I am a really big fan of the Smokey and the Bandit movies, and really appreciate the fact that I could still purchase this brand-new in any format. While I would LOVE a cd version of this soundtrack, it hasn't been made yet. In the mean time, this will do. It was very cool that the cassette tape came to me brand-new, never opened. I just hope that someone decides to produce some remastered cd versions of this...I would snatch it up in a heartbeat, and I know a few other people who would too. But this cassette is in perfect condition and is worth buying for those who don't mind the outdated audio format.

I got this record as a kid, and wore it out. I seriously used to play the LP all the time. Looking back, I have no idea why my parents let me watch such a profanity laced film at such a young age, but it must have been because I loved cars and car chases so much (my love for the Dukes of Hazzard soon followed). The cassette was a refreshing reminder of years gone by. I loved that they intertwined some CB lingo with all the great songs. Jerry Reed hit his stride with Eastbound and Down. The soundtrack is pretty much in line with what you hear in the movie, and the sound quality is, I suppose, about what you'd expect from a cassette tape. If this ever comes to CD, I'm on it.

The actual product was great but I never read the small print and realized that it was a cassette not a CD. Who has a cassette player in their vehicle anymore? My husband really wanted to listen to one particular song on this soundtrack in his truck as he travels. It was a waste of money but the soundtrack was exactly what we were looking for. Amazon's delivery deserves a 5.

Why is this not available on CD? I don't have a tape player in my truck, and I want this on CD so I can play it there. Someone release this on CD? Please? I'll buy it like a shot if you do.

Long Overdue for Release on CD,

I am in league with other fans of this movie who cannot understand why MCA has not released this soundtrack, complete with dialogue soundbytes, on CD. Considering all the other goofy soundtracks from cinematic bombs gracing ever shrinking CD shelves, this is one that should have been available a long time ago. Also do not forget that SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT was the second highest grossing film of 1977. STAR WARS was number one. You can buy the original STAR WARS soundtrack on CD. SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT is nowhere to be found.Way back in 1977 I bought the 8-track version of the soundtrack and later tracked down a 33 rpm vinyl record copy. Even the LP was difficult to find. For a while I had to make do with the RCA released version on Jerry Reed's album EAST BOUND AND DOWN. Unfortunately the RCA album is likewise not available on CD. The thing that was great about the SMOKEY AND THE BANDIT soundtrack was that it contained all of the music to the movie and included some great dialogue. I used to listen to it over and over again. This was one soundtrack that was fantastic to listen to while driving long distances. I have not heard it in years. Hopefully a CD version will be made available.

Bought this for my husband. He plays the music all the time. Him and all of his buddies know every word of the sound track as well as the movies.
