The roots of bluegrass,

I first bought this as a vinyl album during the Great Folk Music Scare of the 1960s, and it has always been one of my chief treasures. Now that I also own it on CD, my vinyl album can enjoy a much-deserved rest. This is true roots music from the Great Smoky Mountains--heartfelt harmonies accompanied by mandolin, guitar, clawhammer banjo, and steel resonator guitar. This is where bluegrass came from.

The 33 1/3 RPM album was given to me as a gift in the 60's. I loved the first cut: Sing Song Kitty. The album was lost in my many moves and only recently did I find the song available on [...] after searching many other resources. What a delight to be able to hear the old timey guitar and banjo work and the unpolished, down home vocals. These are great songs done in a pure homespun style. No pretenses here! It's a folk music collector's must have.
