Book Description

September 25, 2009
Utopian Hollow Earth Classic! One of the best written books on the Hollow Earth, as well as a great example of Utopian Society. This is a Utopian society that is not socialist, yet can't be described as capitalist, nor is it future based which makes The Smoky God a valuable contribution to the Utopian library. This is an exciting firsthand account by Swedish sailor & fishermen 'Olaf Jansen', and son, who sailed in error through the North Polar opening of the Hollow Earth and lived 2 years among its people. Olaf Jansen claims this is his true story as revealed in confidence to Emerson. He writes of a race of Super Giants, 15 feet tall, far advanced socially & scientifically, who treated them with the utmost respect and kindness. They lived in peace & traveled all over their country. Jansen reveals that they returned through the South Polar opening. This report in narrative form seems very plausible and those interested in utopian literature will enjoy this fascinating account.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you are a hollow earth fan, you probability already own this book!, October 8, 2009
This review is from: The Smoky God: A Utopian Hollow Earth Classic! (Paperback)
A Voyage to the Inner World", follows the adventures of Olaf Jensen and his father as they enter the Hollow Earth and discover a race of giants who live in a perfect, utopian civilization. This book created quite a stir when it was first published as it was taken as truth, and to be fair it does read like it's a real account, and a few times I forgot that it was a novel, it's that good. I expect many may still feel that way. It's exciting and very realistic - given the topic. I enjoy utopian novels, and find that many are set in the `hollow earth' but beside that the descriptions of the place is very interesting and imaginative. If you like utopian works, snap this one up.

If you are a hollow earth fan, you probability already own this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Rare "Hollow Earth" book!, October 10, 2009
This review is from: The Smoky God: A Utopian Hollow Earth Classic! (Paperback)
This rare book on the "Hollow Earth" theory was originally published in 1908 by Willis George Emerson, who relates the adventures of one Olaf Jansen, a Norwegian seafarer. His eloquent story of a land beyond the North Pole was only one of many in its time. Many of the modern-day "polar myth" theories can trace their origins to these incredible journeys.

The book reads very well, and does have a very realistic outlook, one is tempted to believe the story, it's that good.

5.0 out of 5 stars Advanced hollow earth beings on the Nazi's side?, October 9, 2009
This review is from: The Smoky God: A Utopian Hollow Earth Classic! (Paperback)
1908, this novel is presented as a true account of how Norwegian sailor Olaf Jansen sailed through an entrance to the world's interior at the North Pole. It spawned many who wanted to voyage there due to the realistic account provided. It does read well. I enjoyed this hollow earth classic, and some say it was the book that kicked off the entire hollow earth concept, in the real sense.

It was even read in translated form by early Nazi's who were looking for Aryans everywhere and figured why not the hollow earth? Later flying saucers seen by Allied pilots were claimed to be made by advanced hollow earth beings on the Nazi side, all of this can be traced back to this very original story.
