About the Author

Thing is, I make up stories. Yes, I know, my mother always said to tell the truth. But, I have an excuse. Characters whisper their stories in my ear, what else can I do but write them down and share? For the record, my mom listens to my stories, so I guess she's forgiven me for telling a tale or two.

Award winning author, published in short stories and novels. Available also in ebook: Short Story, A MATTER OF TASTE. NOVELS also available in ebook: A SMOKY MOUNTAIN CHRISTMAS and PERFECT MATCH.

Carol's a wife, proud mom and ecstatic grandmother. She lives in the sunny South with her husband who patiently awaits his time away from her writing. Carol has an amazing son, who is a remarkable writer, a wonderful daughter-in-law, and is blessed with two awesome grandchildren. She loves a great story that makes her think about the problems life throws at us and how we react. She believes in happy endings and thinks they happen with commitment, understanding, forgiveness, love, laughter, giving, sacrifice, and being unafraid to expose one's inner self. Humor is a big part of her daily routine, because if she can't laugh at herself, then she has a boring day. Yes, she laughs a lot!

Carol is a member of Southeastern Writers, Romance Writer's of America, and Georgia Romance Writers. Where to find Carol DeVaney online: caroldevaney.weebly.com caroldevaney.blogspot.com facebook.com/carol.devaney twitter.com./caroldevaney

I love books with happy endings, and Ms. DeVaney delivers a wonderfully satisfying read just in time for the holidays.

When I read I always try to guess the plot twists and turns and I have to admit, I was surprised several times in this charming story.

Quirky characters, romance and danger, this book has it all. I won't give away the ending, but if the reader isn't moved, I'd say they have a cold heart.

A thoroughly enjoyable, quick read. Highly recommend it.

Ms. DeVaney's Southern accent gives her a very distinctive voice and pace that slides into this book and everything else she writes. Her ability to create delightful characters and bring them to life is a gift. She writes a story, but under it is a deeper one. The one that sticks with you long after you've put the book down. In this case, it's two people who've lost so much, and they need to learn to trust again.

A delightful Christmas story about a city girl with zero domestic ability. She finds herself lost and stranded in the Smoky Mountains, and is rescued by a guy with serious survival skills. The fun is watching the two of them try to accommodate each other. She's too independent to let on that she's incapable, and he tries hard to be the gentleman that he was raised to be. But it's Christmas so they both try to give the other something even though they have nothing to give a stranger. It's a funny, sweet read, and I found myself screaming, "Just kiss her! Really kiss her."

I loved the character of Tina. She was so out of her element when stranded out in the mountains with a handsome stranger. I had to admire her spunkiness and kind heart. Hank, a reclusive writer has his world turned upside down when Tina invades at Christmas time. I love how these two oddly match characters come together to thwart a pair of villains and find love. Don't wait for the holidays to read this one. It will make you laugh and warm your heart.

I live close to the Smokey Mountains so this book was really special to me. I thought the book started out a little slow, but it got better and more and more exciting. I had fun reading it and it had many surprises it. I liked Tina in the story she reminds me of a friend of mine. It was well worth the price and I think anyone would enjoy it.

This is a very tender book for the most part. Things happen for a reason and these two people fell in love and it was meant to be. A lot of good life lessons in this book. Merry Christmas.

She was an independent, outspoken city girl in need of refuge from a snowstorm in rural Gatlinburg, Tennessee. He was a divorced, introverted writer with a warm mountain cabin and a tight deadline for his next novel. They're both disillusioned with life, but a bit of holiday adventure makes them temporary roommates and most unlikely allies.

Hank Gordon and Tina Cole had nothing in common but their somewhat flawed first impressions of one another. Yet, Hank had no choice but to offer Tina the hospitality of his warm, dry cabin since her car was in a ditch and Mother Nature had seen fit to block the roads and kill electricity and phone service to the quaint mountain community. Tina's lack of domestic and outdoor skills didn't make her a very helpful guest, but her straight-talking smart mouth kept Hank on his toes and both of them on the verge of running out of patience with one another. And that was before Hank discovered his mare was about to foal and that two escaped convicts had been spotted in the immediate vicinity of his cabin.

With the snow continuing to fall and the outside temperatures plummeting, the skirmishes between Hank and Tina got more complicated when sightings of unwanted guests from the penitentiary put them in immediate jeopardy, but Christmas was a time for reaching out to others and for second chances for all but the most hardened of hearts. Making the best of a situation that had gone from bad to worse had the reclusive writer and the snarky urbanite looking beneath the surface and liking more and more of what they discovered the other had hidden on the inside.
