A must for the tourist anglers in the Smokies,
By Jim Stark(bn353@aol.com) (Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Smoky Mountains Trout Fishing Guide (Paperback)
This is an excellent book for the angler visiting the Smoky Mountains. This book lists all the streams in the area with the following information: type of fish, size of fish, size of stream, location and fishing pressure. If one wants to beat the crowds without shelling out the cash for a guide, by this book and a map and you are set.

Trout Fishing the Great Smoky Mountains,
By A Customer
This review is from: Smoky Mountains Trout Fishing Guide (Paperback)
This is an excellent book. It is very well written and informative, too. I have fished several of the streams in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park and it has helped me immensely. I can tell that Don Kirk is an accomplished fisherman, a lot of the authors only fish with their typewriter. He has made locating streams easier and offers very good advice on how to fish them. I would have to say that this is the best trout fishing book I have ever read and I have read many of them.

Good but outdated. Ian Rutter's is better.,

I bought this book several years ago. While pretty good back then, I now feel it is outdated after re-reading it last month. I feel that for the money you are much better off buying Ian Rutter's GSMNP book. Ian's is also this same size, so you can pack it in your backpack, but much more updated, detailed, and geared to the fly fisher. In fact Ian is an awesome guide as well. No offense to Mr. Kirk, whose book gave me lots of info 15 years ago as I planned trips in college.
