3.0 out of 5 stars So THERE it is! I finally found "Firestarter!"
It's no surprise, nor coincidence, that most reviews I've read about this CD celebrate the discovery of the almost impossible to find song "Firestarter" by Tease. I've been looking for this song for at least a decade, since I finally gave up on finding the old 45 I used to own when I realized, when the heck was I actually gonna ever play a 45 again? Honestly, there may be...

5.0 out of 5 stars Smooth Grooves: After Hours, February 25, 2000
This review is from: Smooth Grooves: After Hours (Audio CD)
This cd is awesome. I love all of the tracks. I can't believe that someone actually found all of the same types of songs and put them together here. Also, they have some hard to find titles such as Suger Free by Juicy etc. The title really does nail it about what these tracks are. Smooth Grooves. I would give this particular cd a 10 out of 10 rating. Definitely a must on anyones gift or wish list.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great resource for finding hard to locate songs, February 20, 2004

This review is from: Smooth Grooves: After Hours (Audio CD)
I am a fan of this series as it often is the only place to find old school classics. Songs that were popular back in the day, but by either one-hit-wonders, or artists with out of print recordings. This CD is the only place I could find "Firestarter" by Tease, and "Sugar Free" by Juicy. I also enjoyed "Who Do You Love" by Bernard Wright and "Come into My Life" by Joyce Sims. This collection is from a day when slow jams were more than just the whining you hear on the radio today. There was rhythm, there was funk, there was soul.

5.0 out of 5 stars Essential Smooth Grooves, March 27, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Smooth Grooves: After Hours (Audio CD)
This is without doubt one of the finest in the Smooth Grooves series. A good mix of laid back soul (Juicy, Tease, Keni Burke) and smooth dancers (Bernard Wright, Odyssey, Atlantic Starr). Lots of the tracks here have had a hammering on my soul radio show, and feedback has been excellent. Do yourselves a favour, if you've not purchased this yet, don't waste time putting it on your wants list, get it now.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fine anthology of the songs that helped define the "Quiet Storm" sound., June 11, 2003

Most of the songs included on this great compilation deservedly became Quiet Storm classics. "Firestarter" (Tease), "Gotta Get You Home Tonight" (Eugene Wilde), "Silver Shadow" (Atlantic Starr), "Come Into My Life" (Joyce Sims) and "Sugar Free" (Juicy) still sound great after all these years. I did NOT give these otherwise-superb CD a 5-star rating because the songs by Oddysey and Reel To Real do not belong on a Quiet Storm-oriented anthology. If you are a fan of 1980s R&B, however, you shouldn't pass this CD up. I also like the front and back inserts' photos also.
