Ignore the other idiot who didn't read the instructions and tried to use this for something is specifically says it won't work for. Don't rate a product as a 1 because you're too dumb to read. This stuff works great, is easy to work with, sets fast etc. Great product, like all of smooth-on's products.

I have used this product for over 6 years and it comes out perfect every time. It clearly states on the box that it will not work with ANY sulfur containing clay of any kind (which common modeling clay is sulfur based). This is a platinum based rubber and sulfur disrupts the bonding process. If you don't read the instructions, don't blame the product. This material is excellent when used with Monster Clay or any other wax based clay. It produces extreme detail in the negative mould. Being a platinum based rubber it is also safe to make wearable platinum based silicone appliances that will be applied to an actor or performer's skin. With the proper release agent, it works wonderfully with Smooth On Dragon Skin FX Pro and Dragon Skin 10. Both awesome products. If you are looking to do studio quality special effects and sculptures I highly recommend all these products. Just remember to read the instructions and MSDS sheets for proper and safe handling.

To be fair after reading all (and there was a lot) of the information sheets that came with the product it did say it may not cure on certain materials including modeling clay. Unfortunately I did not read the small print until I realized the product had failed to cure. Therefore I write this for you who may be considering this product for duplicating a modeling clay sculpture. Save yourself hours of trying to scrape off the goopy rubbery mess that would not set and repairing all the damage. This is sold as a way to copy sculpted pieces. Had I known this did not include modeling clay before I got it I would not have wasted my money, time and effort.

I did stir it before I measured out the two parts and the two parts were of equal weight before I mixed them.

I am going back to 407 Latex for crating rubber molds from modeling clay sculptures.

thanks
S.
