5.0 out of 5 stars Author Comments from MaryAnn Kohl, November 14, 2001

*** Important note: The projects and recipes in"Snacktivities" are selections from the previously published Gryphon House book, "Cooking Art" by MaryAnn Kohl and Jean Potter.

Look in your fridge. See all that boring ol' food? Turn it into art with these playful art experiences...and eat the results! These are easy cooking and food prep projects for kids of all ages. I personally love the Bunny Pear Salad and the Polka-Dot Party Melons. How about you? ~~~ MaryAnn Kohl

5.0 out of 5 stars Cooking artfully, April 2, 2009
This review is from: Snacktivities!: 50 Edible Activities for Parents and Children (Paperback)
I like the food preparation in this book for kids...most without a stove or oven necessary...because it encourages children to enjoy healthy food as well as to be creative. There is a more comprehensive version of this book called "Cooking Art" from Gryphon House with twice as many projects, but for the price, this is a really good little book with enough creative food ideas to keep kids happy and involved preparing delightful recipes.

4.0 out of 5 stars Delightful Book, December 22, 2011

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Snacktivities!: 50 Edible Activities for Parents and Children (Paperback)
This book is full of wonderful, fun food creations that kids will love: Prehistoric Eggs (hard-boiled eggs made to look like dinosaur eggs), Lemon Lights (lemonade poured over grape-juice ice cubes), Spider Sandwich (peanut butter on wheat bread with cheese curls and raisins for legs and eyes), and so forth. There is plenty of variety, and the recipes are easy enough that young children could help out with the preparation.

The only drawback is the design. The book is paperback, and the only colors used for the illustrations and page designs is orange. Some photographs or at least higher-quality illustrations would make the book more attractive.
