Growing up in Minnesota, Jean and I shared many experiences during those early years. Her serious reflective mood often puzzled me--a free spirited live-for-the-moment type of personality. Still being dear friends after all those years, I now appreciate her kind and often humorous perspective on life in a small Mennonite town. Her poetry speaks to my heart giving me a sense of connectedness to my past in a way I would have never enjoyed without her marvelous poetry.
