Marti Brom "Snake Ranch",
By "ladyluck56" (Orange County, California) - See all my reviews

One of the best CDs I've listened to in a long time. Marti has a beautiful, growling voice that brings back the 50s sounds of Janis Martin and Wanda Jackson. This CD has a great honky tonkin' rockabilly sound. I highly recommend this CD and if Marti ever comes to your town, check her out, you won't be sorry.

my favorite newer rockabilly cd,
This review is from: Snake Ranch (Audio CD)
This cd finds Marti Brom sounding similar to Patsy Cline, however Brom swings a bit more, and her band falls in the lines of western swing and rockabilly, or hillbilly boogie. In any case the music swings, and brom has a full lucious voice and the band is exellent. Fun music.

This album is a killer !And the backing band - the Barnshakers - are fantastic. Check their new album as well. I'm looking forward of the new album "Wise To You" by Marti Brom

What you have here is a great rocking record from a great gal based in Austin. Marti does not come across as a screeching banshee like so many of the modern rockabilly ladies do. She has a smooth and strong voice and great taste in songs. This is a great record by a great talent!

I got this CD after hearing "Blue Tattoo" on a streaming radio show. That track is worth the price of admission, but the rest are just as outstanding.Brom sings like she means it, from fun tunes like "Eat my Words" to the achingly beautiful "Blue Tatoo". The comparisons with past greats like Patsy Cline are apt, not because of the vocal similarity (yes, it's there) but because of the way she plunges in to each song. I'm no rockabilly fan, but Marti Brom is worth checking out even if you don't follow the genre. She's that good.

Exellent western swing and rockabilly gal,
By Playboy1954 "Mr. Jazz" (Spain) - See all my reviews

The greatest female western swing and rockabilly singer today from Texas is Marti Browm and here she is backed by the finest western swing combo from Holland the Barnshakers(also worth checing out). Brom sounds vocally similar to Wanda Jackso nand Patsy Cline, but doesn't copy either of thier styles. Her delivery vocally recalls swinging honky tonk singers from the early 50's, liek a female Hank Williams, Sr. A great western swing cd, and fans of swing, western swing, rockabilly, country and jazz wil lenjoy thsi release, and dancers wil love it's swing rhythms.

I can't believe it took me so long to get around to buying one of her albums! This is a load of fun, Marti has a great voice for the material, and she doesn't push the 1950's thing over the edge into camp like some of the revival artists do. Her version of "Kiss the Baby Good-Night" will make you do a double-take to make sure it's not Charline Arthur; she sounds _that_ real.

I bought this CD because I had heard her sing "Blue Tatoo". Even though I don't listen to a lot of rockabilly generally, this album has really grown on me. It is mostly light and lively music with a couple of ballads thrown in for good measure. Highly recommend it if you have a lean toward this genre.
