5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!, February 21, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Snakefoot: The Making of Champion (Hardcover)
Very intriguing and very well written! The book describes the author's 60 year pursuit; to develop an excellent strain from of Pointers! Though centered around the Pointer breed, the author provides experiences, opinions, and philosophy that equally apply to all other pointing breeds. Once I started the book, I couldn't put it down until I had finished it in its entirety. I've read it several times in the past year. This book is a favorite that I will keep and look forward to reading again for many, many years!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book!!!, May 21, 2007

This review is from: Snakefoot: The Making of Champion (Hardcover)
Fantastic book! The author explains in detail some of the training and breeding techniques that have made the Elhew bloodline the premier Pointer line in the world. His dogs are legendary and his training techniques (even 50+ years ago) show the compassion and love sportsmen have for their dogs. A must read for anti-hunters who think all hunters abuse their beloved pets. It just "ain't" so!

4.0 out of 5 stars Worthy Read, January 6, 2009
This review is from: Snakefoot: The Making of Champion (Hardcover)
A little rambling in places, but overall a very nice book if you're a bird dog fan. Contains lots of pictures, art work (new and old) pedigree charts and Wehle commentary on a variety topics including breeding, training philosophy, the state of dog trials and anything else the old master had on his mind at the time.
