4.0 out of 5 stars Great Album and Artist You Should Know
I just got this album yesterday, but have been awaiting the release of Snakehouse for months. The Cliks are a great new band hailing from Canada. Their sound reminds me of a band called Tina & the B Sides, a modern Melissa Etheridge or even Fiona Apple with a kick arse backing band. The album standout is, so far, their initial release "Oh Yeah". I'm also enjoying...

I'm also enjoying their rendition of Justin Timberlake's "Cry Me a River", which came as a surprise. The lyrics seem to have a pain about them they are trying to release, "When I'm wasted you sucker punch me". I recommend giving this album and band a listen. It will be worth your time. [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars How In the World Can This Group Be Unknown?, May 22, 2008

This album and this band simply cannot be recommended highly enough. Catchy and alluring hooks abound, dark and compelling lyrics throughout - this is just exciting, well-played and satisfying rock music. Add in the band's gender ambiguity and it all makes for a sense of discovery of a treasure that nobody else has quite caught on to yet. Fun stuff. No allowances expected or needed for evaluating a "girl" band. I caught this band performing live down in Cancun, bought their CD, and have not been able to force myself to listen to anything else since. Every song is catchy. I am used to settling for albums with two or three good cuts on the entire CD. This one doesn't have a loser in the bunch. Buy it - you won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars I think I'm in love!, June 7, 2007

No, seriously.
I absolutely LOVE this band. Love, love, love. The songs are catchy, they're great to sing along to, and the lead singer's voice is great. Surprisingly enough, the only song I always skipped over was their hit "Oh Yeah". I saw them live and...now I'm excited to hear it. If you ever get a chance to see them live, DO IT! My friends and I drove 4 hours (round trip) on a work night to see them and none of us will ever regret the experience. The band is really friendly, they put on a great show, and they come out to meet everyone after they're done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rock-solid rockin' Cliks, June 20, 2007
This review is from: Snakehouse (Audio CD)
This band opened the True Colors Chicago show, starting to a house that was about half-way empty, but they pulled 'em in when they kicked into OH YEAH and showed what no-nonsense rock can sound like in the right hands. All sexual politics aside, here's great rock: tough and simple. They can play any house, anywhere and proved it live; the SNAKEHOUSE album captures them just the same.

The album sounds as great as their live show; crank up the bass and rip it up!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best CD of the year--bar none!, May 12, 2008

I'm sitting at my desk blinking and speechless because I can't believe no one else has reviewed this CD! My review title is an honest opinion & that's saying a lot because I think this juust edged out Johnette Napolitano's "Scarred" for the number one spot. I guess it's up to me to do the reviewin'.

I found the Cliks thanks to Logo's NewNowNext last year. One song "Oh Yeah" hooked me. I HAD to get the CD. When I did, I found each song as hook-y and smart as the previous. The songs are raw, funny, and real. they get stuck in your head because of the music...but the lyrics stick there too. So I hum them and sing them...and yes, I have to be careful where I sing them out loud...not only because my voice has been known to draw dogs to howl, but also because you jyst can't sing "Complicated" while you're shelving books in the kids section of your library...buy the CD, find out why.

Listening to this CD the first couple times reminds me of how I felt when I listened to the first Melissa Etheridge CD years ago (ok, so it was an album...it was that long ago). I've nearly worn this CD out. I got lucky enough to see them in concert and I heartily reccommend that experience too. May they long stay together and record MANY fine Cds!

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Snakehouse CD!, December 28, 2007
This review is from: Snakehouse (Audio CD)
Awesome CD. Lucas Silveira's voice is incredible! He reaches different octaves with very sensual and husky undertones. You won't be disappointed with your purchase of Snakehouse. Check out their website at http://www.thecliks.com

I'm just sorry I didn't go to their concert in Chicago.

I didn't even know of this band till they came on stage for the True Colors concert this year, and let me tell you, I was blown away. L. Silveria's voice is alluring, emotional, and ultimately sexy.
Snakehouse goes together like a story book. Everything fits, the music, lyrics, and vocals. This is one of the cds I would recommend to anyone, especially those who love rock music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Oh Yeah Oh Yeah I'm Fallin, June 26, 2008
This review is from: Snakehouse (Audio CD)
- The Cliks - this band frickin' rocks with everything - led by the strong voiced and strong lyricist Lucas Silveria - a transgender if you will - who can belt out anything including a super cool rocking version of Justin No Balls Timberlake's "Cry Me A River". "Oh Yeah" and "Complicated" are two more gems which have videos out there to see, but you really need to buy the album. Think Concrete Blonde, Garbage and Joan Jett getting together to create an album and you get the gist - oh yeah it's that frickin' good and the voice - god that voice is superb. Get their debut Snakehouse just as soon as you can! Also if you get a chance to see them live do it -We saw them in a small Hollywood club and they were just as good live!

I absolutely love The Cliks! Their music, their image, their background, everything! I saw them in concert on 8/9 and I only wish I could afford to see them in the True Colors Tour. Lucas Silveira is a powerful lyricist and singer, his bandmates both sexy and strong. I await their next album at the edge of my seat!
